BrickPig - details Hi, welcome to my LEGO world. My name is Ken Leong (aka BrickPig). I came out of my Dark Ages in February 2000. I had just gotten my 5 year old son some Star Wars LEGO sets for Christmas in 1999 and was pleased at how far LEGO had come since I was young. Then I came across the LEGO Mechwarrior site. Wow! My favorite computer game warriors come to life in ABS! I was inspired to create my own Summoner and Timber Wolf, so I began to build my LEGO collection. Soon I discovered the LEGO section on eBay and my LEGO habit really took off. I now have a number of designs built, including: Mechwarrior 2 mechs: Summoner, Timber Wolf, Mad Dog, Marauder, Rifleman, Stormcrow, Nova, Warhammer, Jenner, Tarantula Custom mechs: Scorpion, Jester, Badger, Piranha, Lynx, Tigershark Vehicles: Dust Devil, Engineering Recovery Vehicle (ERV), Anti Aircraft Vehicle, Light (AAVL), Medium AtTAck truck (MATAK) I have never played the Mechwarrior board games but own lots of the PC computer games: Mechwarrior 2, Ghost Bear Legacy, Mercenaries, Mechwarrior 3, and Mechcommander. The BrickPig name I chose BrickPig because I was born in 1959 which was the Chinese year of the Pig. Also in the Three Little Pigs, the Brick Pig was the conservative, careful one of the three. Building Notes When it comes to LEGO purity, I find it much easier to do so with the small Mechs than with larger ones. Obviously, the smaller Mechs use fewer bricks. Also, some of the specialty pieces you can use on the bigger mechs only come in certain colors. Finally, my LEGO budget is finite. After all, I have to compete with my kids for the family toy budget. (I always tell my wife, "...but it says 'and up' so I qualify!") I find torsos easier to model than legs. Legs don't seem to have a whole lot of design freedom. I've always wondered why they didn't have any Mechs (besides the Clan Wolf Tarantula) that had more than two legs? In nature four legs is the general rule. That's one reason I created the Scorpion Commando Mech, a piece of work I'm quite pleased with. Well that's all for now. Have fun and build well.
