the military approached us with an order for a fast, light, maneuverable, heavy-hitting artillery unit. our first impulse was to build a mounted gun, like the Diomedes, and put a very large engine in it. we soon realised that that would not fulfill the military's expectations. then one bright R&D tech hit upon the solution. "why just one gun?". swiftly the prelimenary edsign was drafted up, with two light guns, rather than one heavy gun. after much deliberation, a treaded chassis was chosen for the vehicle, and the L.A.S.T. was born. don't let the name fool you, it stands for "Light Artillery Support Tank". designed to be deployed in groups of three or more, the LAST's powerful 6" guns can lob High Explosive shells close to 50 miles, thanks to a liquid propellant system, which also reduces muzzle flash. it also carries an advanced comms and sensor package, allowing it to locate it's target regardless of weather conditions. the L.A.S.T. is now undergoing field trials by the military, and will be operational within the year.
