Notes on displaying the real thing: First off, to my disappointment the weight of the 4 wings made it impossible to get this guy to stand up straight without assistance. Therefore I had to build a stand that would support him. It turned out much nicer than I had anticipated, so I’d like to share how I did it in case others wish to do the same. 1) Bought a rectangular wooden base at Michaels, although I’m sure other arts and crafts store would have similar things. 2) Bought the thinnest 1ft long steel rod I could find from the local hardware store. 3) Drilled a pilot hole in the center of the base which was slightly less than the diameter of the rod. 4) Hammered the rod into the base. 5) Picked out a black 2 x 6 lego plate and super glued it at the appropriate height to the rod. 6) Attached the model’s back to the 2 x 6 lego plate and posed the feet and legs. 7) Finished! I now have a nice sturdy display for him which can easily be removed if I wish to make changes to his design.
