 The Relentless has been retired early from active duty in the Tekachilon navy to be outfitted for deep space recon.
 Nearly half it's weapon emplacements have been removed to make room for extended sensor suites, leaving it with only 6    dorsal and 6 ventral particle projector cannons, which is still more than adequate for an exploration vessel. Most of the  interior has been refurbished into either large storage rooms   or scientific studies.
 It has been choosen for this job because of it's unique cold fusion reactor (much more efficient than the hot fuison or    fission ones normally used, but at lower peak output). This reactor gives the Relentless the ability to operate for several  years without refulling, and with the reduced crew it can even carry enough consumables for such a time period.
 The three ion reaction drives provide slow but steady propulsion and require a minimum of maintenace, unlike the deflector   shielding, which is flickery at best. The Enhanced Molecular Bonding Armor (EMBA) is usually much more reliable.

 The Punisher is a fleet fire support cruiser, assinged to protect the Relentless. It sports smaller but more accurate Laser  cannons instead of PPC's. This allows it to stay back and pick of the most threatening targets before they become a threat  to the task force. Unlike the Relentless it uses a pair of fission reactors for energy and is thus more reliably on means  for resupplying.

 The Milkbar is the fleet supply tender assigned to this task force. It the largest ship capable of both landing and  interstellar flight, though landing operations are preferrably conducted with shuttlecraft whenever possible. Excpet for following the larger  vessels around and supply them as needed, this ship has no other purpose.
