That is right, this is the end of the journey. Or better said, the end of the Member Interviews because this is the last Member Interview we will conduct in this form, none other than the 30th! Confused about this? Read more about it here! The last lucky interviewee is Serpent of Fire! A BIONICLE and kind of BZPower veteran known in the forums for standing by his member group of the Premier Outstanding BZPower Citizens and for his [INSERT]. Unfortunately, he is not too known, but this is your chance to get to know him! And you better donīt miss an interview with such an awesome member. Letīs go!
BZPower: 1. This is the last Member Interview in the near future! How do you feel? I feel as if the awesomeness of just being chosen has been intensified about ten times. 2. The same with me, since I was just to be the interviewer. When I heard, this would be the last interview, I fondly wished to be the interviewer for it. :) You are on BZPower for quite a few years already! Why did you join? Wow. Just realized I've been a member for almost seven years. Back then there was a link to BZP in the Buzz section of Bionicle.com. Since I didn't really know anyone who was still following Bionicle by the time Mask of Light came out, I leaped at the chance to be able to talk about Bionicle with other fans. 3. Thatīs how I found BZPower, too, but in 2004! How was BZPower back then? It was a bit intimidating. I was fairly new to the internet at the time, and had no idea how internet forums worked. For the first two and a half months of my time here I thought that that button that had PM on it, (that i believe used to be on the bar that the report, quote and reply buttons are on at the bottom of every post) stood for "Post Message" not "Private Message". Luckily not that many people received random PMs responding to a post or topic they had made. 4. I remember that. :P Do you miss those days? No, I prefer actually knowing how to use the internet. 5. Who doesnīt prefer that? What does the word 'BZPower' mean to you personally? Is there anything you think of when hearing or reading that word? To me, BZPower is that place I can go to talk about something I'm interested in that no one else I know is, without getting made fun of for it like I did when I was still in school. 6. Oh, I know what that is. :( If you could change this siteīs name, what would you change it to? Um... Serpent of Fire's Bionicle Zone Power? 7. SoFBZPower? :P Speaking of names: Bee-zee-power or Bee-zed-power? :P The first one. 8. The second one here. :P Which are your best memories you have of BZPower? The best one is actually a more recent one. Starting last December, I started work on a Tank MoC that incorporated some Power Functions parts. After five or six months the Lego finally I/R reciever and the Remote Control off back order, which I built on to a frame I had built earlier on. When I finally finished it and posted it in the BBC forum, some members recommended that I enter it into the vehicles contest for the Expanded Multiverse. So I entered to see how far it would go. It ended up tieing for 2nd/3rd in the MoC category. 9. I must have missed that one. Congratulations! :) Which are your worst memories of BZPower? About three months after I joined, having figured out how to post, one of the first posts I made was spam. To make things worse, I also double posted. That was the day I learned what the Proto meter was. I had one proto point missing for years until I got it back after reporting a Toys R Us sale to the news. 10. But at least you have well-deserved full proto now! :) Do you like the direction the site is taking? You mean how its going in more of a general Lego direction? Sure. I really appreciate the non Bionicle/Hero Factory set reviews. Without them I never would have heard about a small set called the Imperial Flagship, currently sitting three feet away from my computer. I hope to see more system set reviews in the future. 11. That set is indeed just beatiful...and expensive. :P Where you are the most active in? Probably a mix between Completely off Topic and General Discussion. I do occasionally stick my head in the BBC forums to say hello. 12. Is there anything you achieved which you are proud of? Same response as question 8. Now I'm wondering if I should copy and paste that response and see if anyone notices... 13. Now that you have said it I am sure they would. :P And is there anything you would like to achieve? Never really thought about it. I don't usually think that far ahead. 14. Have you ever lost interest in BZPower? I must admit, I do go through long periods of time where I don't post, although I have to be on a camping trip away from all computers in order to go a day without visiting. 15. Have you ever met a BZPower member? Not in real life, no. At least not that I know of. 16. If you ever get to meet Vorox Chief, he is a very nice guy. Who are or were your best friends or pals on BZPower? Too many to name. They all tend to come and go as the years go by. Though its probably worth mentioning that when the Geckonator and I realized a few years ago that we have the same birthday, and ever since we've been making each other birthday topics. I usually beat him to posting the topic, only time he beat me was this year. But I'll beat him next year. Even if I have to post at midnight :P 17. I wish you the best of luck then. Try not to fall asleep! :D If you recommended this site to a friend or a family member, why would you do it? What would you recommend it for? Well if I knew anyone who was actually interested in Bionicle, or Hero Factory or other Lego stuff, I'd recommend it because this is one of the friendliest sites on the web. Other forums I've visited let people get away with a lot more than they could here. Its kinda nice to not get flamed every other post. 18. I think everybody agrees there. Have you ever recommended BZPower to anybody? Unfortunately, no, since nobody I know is that interested in Lego or Bionicle. 19. How do you imagine your future as a BZPower member? Well, I'll probably still be Serpent of Fire and posting in topics for quite a while. At some point I'll scrap the RC tank and build version 2.0. Beyond that I really don't think that far ahead. I am glad you will still be around for some time. :) What could be the next topic? BIONICLE: 20. BIONICLE, isn īt that some kind of story about robots collecting masks to defeat some weird evil guy called Matuka or something like that? :P Well, for starters, they aren't robots. They are biomechanical beings. And the collecting mask part was just the first year. after that they had to collect the krana to defeat the Bahrag, then find more masks to defeat the Kal, then find some disks, turn them into another mask, evacuate Metru Nui, go back, get mutated, fight some bad guys, get changed back, take the rest of the matoran to Mata nui, then a thousand years later, go back to Metru Nui, send the Toa to Voya Nui, where they get beaten up, then send a rookie toa team to Voya Nui to finish the job, find the Mask of Life only to drop it in the water so they had to change into aquatic beings to swim down and find it, sink Voya Nui, while one of them took the Mask of Light into Karda nui and die saving Mata Nui from death. Then the toa who got beat up go fight some more Makuta, wake up mata nui, who gets stuffed in the Mask of life and shot into space, then lands on another planet thats really just a piece of the planet he was already on, create a new body, go on all sorts of adventures, discover another giant robot, and use it to fight the first makuta who gets hit in the head by a giant rock and dies. The end? Oh, right, storys still going. 21. Sounds pretty straightforward. :P What was your favourite year of BIONICLE story? Probably 2001. Because of nostalgia and it was unique compared to some of the other stories I was familiar with at the time. 22. All journeys must come to an end, but this time,...? There is a new beginning as well - Mata Nui 23. Excellent! :D What was the most shocking moment of BIONICLE story to you? Bionicle Comic 15: Secrets and Shadows, The Turaga have the Toa Nuva and Taka all gathered, and Vakama announces that they were not the first Toa. That for me was a major turning point in Bionicle. 24. Unfortunately, I read that comic after seeing the sets so it did not have such an impact on me. Do you still follow the BIONICLE story? I'm always watching bioniclestory.com for the latest serials. 25. I am especially enjoying The Powers That Be at the moment. Pohatu and Kopaka are a great team. Was there ever a set you were really amazed at and really wanted to have? The Manas. Those things were remote controlled! 26. I did not really like them too much if I remember right. Who are your personal BIONICLE stars? Pohatu. He was my first Bionicle set and will always be my favorite. 27. Pohatu is indeed a star. Which is your favourite BIONICLE quote? "I have a destiny to fulfill. A reason for existing. You have nothing Makuta. You are nothing." - Mata Nui 28. I personally prefer: "Donīt worry. You may try. ...?" But you won't succeed. - Kopaka 29. That quote shows Kopakaīs personality like no other. BIONICLE: The Game or BIONICLE Heroes (or none? :P)? Well, I never played Bionicle Heroes, But I really enjoyed Bionicle: The Game 30. I have only played the BIONICLE Heroes demo, but I always wanted to play BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata Nui. I even thought that the Mini CD-Rom from my Lewa canister was the game, but then again I was just a kid then. What did or do you think of the BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata Nui game being discounted? You mean discontinued? I kinda forgot about it for a while, found out it had been discontinued about a year after it got discontinued. Still was a bit disappointing though. 31. I found out about it much later, but it was a shame. We might get to see it in a not too far away future. Hint at the BIONICLE Software forum. Speaking of games, have you played all the BIONICLE online games? Most of them, not all of them. 32. Not intending to boast, but I have played and won all you could win. Which was the one you most enjoyed? MNOLG 33. Is there any game that means something special to you? MNOLG, it was where I got most of the Bionicle story at the time. 34. MNOG, The Battle for Mata Nui and MNOG II are connected with many fond memories for me. What was your favourite BIONICLE promotion? In 2001 Wal Mart had this mask promotion where they had one kanohi for each Toa, and to get one you had to take Onua Mata and make him drag a mask across a table. Once you got it across it was yours to keep. I had a Green Kakama, Black Hau, and a Brown Pakari before my parents insisted we leave. 35. Even though there was a Wal-Mart in my area I never heard of it but I think I would have loved it. How would you have ended BIONICLE? Honestly I'm content with the way it ended. I wouldn't change anything. 36. If you could have met BIONICLE in real life, what would you have asked it? :P Can I borrow a few pieces for a MoC? 37. :sofunny: That was a good one. What is the 42 of BIONICLE? The answer to life, the universe and everything. 38. BIONICLE: just a toy line or far more than that? Its a toy line with an awesome story, which has kept me interested for ten years. An amazing feat considering my short attention span. And which will hopefully still keep us interested for some years. :) But for now many peopleīs interest is rather focused on: LEGO HERO FACTORY: 39. What does a BIONICLE veteran like you (and me :P) think of LEGO HERO FACTORY? Well, I can't speak for all the veterans, but I welcome it. What little I've seen of the storyline seems pretty interesting. I think that Hero Factory could have potential to last as long as Bionicle did. 40. I really have to agree on this one. What were your reactions when you heard BIONICLE was going to be replaced by a more flexible toy line? What did you expect that toy line to become like? Well I could go on a small rant about how I didn't like the idea of sets made entirely out of rubber, but i didn't actually think that. :D Like most members I was a bit sad to see it go, but I was very curious to see what new direction Lego would take. 41. I think many people misunderstood that about the flexibility. :P I must admit HF has exceeded my exceptations. What would you have replaced BIONICLE with if not HF? I have no idea. Probably something about a group of robots fighting other robots. And it would have to have some collectibles similar to the Kanohi of 2001 through 2003. 42. Have you got any of the sets? Furno Bike, Xplode, and Meltdown. 43. In my opinion, the Furno Bike is one of the best if not the best vehicle we have seen for a constraction toy line. What are your expectations for HF 2011? No throwbot arms attached to that double ball joint connector (Xplode, I'm looking at you!). It just looks awkward and makes them hard to pose. 44. We shall see. What do you think of next yearīs system using ball sockets to connect the armor? NOTE: This information is from very likely HF parts for 2011 found in the LEGO Digital Designer. Since I first read this question I've spent an hour looking around trying to find them, and yes, I did update the program. Someone's gonna have to send me a screenshot or something. 45. I am so sorry! I forgot to mention you need to activate the so-called LU mode to see them. Read how to activate it here. Anyway, do you follow the story? So far I've only read the comics. Haven't kept up much. 46. Have you watched the TV series or plan to do so? If yes, was there any character you liked in particular? You know, I keep forgetting about the TV series, I'm gonna have to see if/when its on next. And hope I don't have to be at work when it is. 47. Have you read the comics by Greg Farshtey? No :P 48. But you have just said in answer #45 you did. :P How much potential do you see in HERO FACTORY? From what I've seen, I figure it could last as long as Bionicle did. 49. Would you like it to continue beyond 2011? Yes, I hope that ten years from now, people could be asking the same questions about Hero Factory and its replacement. 50. We Build Heroes™ = We Scare, Cause We Care? (If you donīt know what the latter is, it is the slogan of Monsters. Inc from Pixar :P). You do realize that laughter produces ten times more energy than screams, right? 51. Sure I do. Yes, we can...like HERO FACTORY after all? :P Sure. Why not? You better ask that the people who hate HERO FACTORY. LEGO: 52. What do you think about the LEGO.com overhaul? I like it, its a little easier to navigate. 53. Not to mention that the old Play section was horribly outdated and in fact almost did not change since it was created in 2007. Are you going to follow next yearīs series like NINJAGO and LEGO Pharaoīs Quest? I'll probably get one or two of the sets, but thats probably it. 54. What do you think of them so far? Definitely going to keep an eye on them to see if any of the sets are worth buying. 55. Have you played the new NINJAGO game? Yup. Gets interesting when theres more fireballs than there is placest to run to. 56. My highscore is 51926. A hint: Running is rarely the best option. ;) Have you played any other LEGO online games recently? Does Lego Universe count? 57. While we are at it, do you have LEGO Universe? Yeah, been slowly playing through it. Between work and all the other games that are out its hard to find time and decide what to play when I do find time. 58. LU is the only video game I play, so itīs not hard to decide. :P Were you an alpha or/and a beta tester for it? I was a beta tester. After a couple of week I kinda forgot about it, so I didn't have to repeat as much of the game as I would have otherwise. 59. I was a beta tester and also an alpha tester for a week. If you see somebody called Gatanui there, you will know who it is. ;) What do you think of the game so far? It's pretty fun. Just got my Malestrom Hammer, and plan on doing some more of the Ninja quests. 60. Do you really think the imagination is in danger? :P Does Elmer Fudd have trouble with the letter R? 61. The narrator is indeed quite annoying. :P Do you have any other LEGO videogames? I have Lego Star Wars: The complete Saga, and LEGO: Creator laying around somewhere. 62. Do you plan on getting any? Not right now. 63. What do you think of LEGO remaking many old themes like ninjas or adventurers? I didn't get any of those sets the first time around, so its a good opportunity to see how they are. 64. True. I guess that is part of LEGOīs intention. Have you got any special expectations for LEGO sets next year? Nothing set specific, but I'd like to see more options in the Pick a Brick. 65. What would you love to see as a future LEGO series? Three words: LEGO Star Trek. 66. I guess that would not be impossible. If you would recommend LEGO to anybody, what would you do it for? Versatility. How many toys do you know of that can be a race car one minute, the USS Enterprise the next, and a castle a day later. 67. Let me see...none. :P Do you LEGO more frequently with actual bricks, inside your brain or with activities in your computer? Actual bricks most of the time. I have more fun building when I figure things out as I go. 68. How long do you think LEGO will still exist? I think Lego will last longer than the planet. 69. Now that is an optimistic vision of the future! :P What is your best memory related to LEGO? Way too many to pick just one. 70. And what about your worst? Everytime I step on a LEGO brick on a hardwood floor. Those things hurt! 71. Ouch, you are right about that. What does the word LEGO mean to you? Is it a toy, a philosophy or more than that? To me, LEGO is the ultimate test of a person's creativity. With most other mediums you can create the shapes and other things you need. With LEGO, you only get to use what parts are available to you, which at times can make it more challenging. 72. That is an interesting point of view. Which was your favourite year of LEGO sets so far? 2001. Can you guess why? ;) 73. I think I canīt. :P Is there any LEGO set you specially like? Out of Bionicle sets, Muaka and Kane Ra were the one set I wish I never scrapped for parts. Out of Lego in general, the Y-Wing and Vader's Tie Fighter set from the first year of LEGO Star Wars. You will have to introduce that site to me so I can join as well. :P Miscellaneous: 59. What hobbies do you have besides the obvious ones? Well, besides BZP and Bionicle, I'm into archery, making computer games with RPG Maker 2003. Oh, and I'm a bookworm and I love to write. And lets not forget running with sharp, pointy objects! 60. Did you watch any movies in theaters this year? If yes, which ones and did you like them Unfortunately, no. Last movie I watched in the theater was Prince Caspian. 61. Do you listen to a certain kind of music? Well, according to my playlist, I listen to the following: Alternative Alternative Rock Gospel and Religious Metal Other Pop Religious Rock But I mostly listen to random christian music. 62. Is there any song you associate with LEGO, BIONICLE or BZPower for some reason? Songs from the CD Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin remind me of the Short Stories Critics Club. Mainly because that's what I use to goad myself into writing a review. 63. Do you enjoy school? Actually, yes. But the fact that I'm homeschooled might have something to do with it. 64. Just might? :P Which is your favourite school subject? Math. It's just awesome. Despite what some people say... *Looks at Akaku* 65. Which was the question #20 of the seventh and my first Member Interview? uhh, give me a moment to open a new tab. Oh here it is! 7. What was your main hobby before Lego and/or Bionicle? 66. Well done! What is your answer to it? There was a world before Lego? 67. How is that possible? Do you like riddles? Yes. Telling them around a fire at twelve AM is something that just can't be beat. 68. What do you get if you multiply six by nine? 54. 69. Wrong! Itīs 42. ;) What is your personal answer to everything? Uhhh..... Oh yes. Kitties! They're the answer to everything.. 70. I will have to tell Douglas Adams that he was wrong when he wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. :P Which is your favourite number? 13. I just don't get how it is so feared.... It's harmless! 71. I like 7 myself. Where may I have left my keys? uuhhhh... In your pocket? 72. Could be. Would you like to answer this question? I'll check my pockets... Who knows where those things could be.. I suggest you put up a reward for them. =P Well, thank you for interviewing me. Nice one! :D As usual, this interview is even longer than my last one. Thanks for answering all the questions! It was a pleaure interviewing you.
And sadly, that was it. Donīt forget to thank Zarayna! for the interview! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Would you like to be the next to be interviewed? Then click this link now! But hurry if you are interested. ~Gata. ;)
