LEGO Design Grid: The Manual.


The Design Grid consists of five Excel sheets.  

The first sheet is the Base Plate Top View.  Here we see 16 LEGO Base plates of 32x32 studs 
(thick lines) totalling an area of 128x128 studs.  On the top left corner we find a Zero 
(0) marker, this point corresponds to the Zero marker on each of the side views.  All 
coordinates originate at this Zero marker.

The grid of the side views is different than that of the base plate.  This grid consists of 
plates (thin lines) and bricks (thick lines), each brick consists of three plates. The grid 
is 128 studs wide and 120 bricks high. 
The red markers correspond with the 32x32 stud LEGO base plate boundaries.

For the very big builders there is a XL grid version consisting of 32 base plates x 64 
base plates covering a 256 x 512 stud area, wich corresponds to 4.1m (13'5") x 2.05m (6'8")

LEGO Ontwerp Grid: De Handleiding

Het Grid bestaat uit vijf Excel bladen.

Het eerste blad is de basisplaat bovenaanzicht.  Hier zien we 16 LEGO basisplaten van 32x32 
studs (dikke lijnen) met in totaal een gebied van 128x128 studs.  Aan de linker bovenzijde 
vinden we het nul (0) punt.  Dit nulpunt correspondeert met de nulpunten op de zijaanzichten.  
Alle coördinaten beginnen bij dit nulpunt.

Het grid van de zijaanzichten is anders dan dat van de basisplaat.  Het grid bestaat nu uit 
platen (dunne lijnen) en stenen (dikke lijnen), elke steen bestaat uit drie platen. Het grid is 
128 studs breed en 120 stenen hoog.  
De rode markeringen geven de randen aan van de 32x32 LEGO basisplaten.

Voor de zeer grootte bouwers is er een XL grid versie dat bestaat uit 32 basisplaten x 64 
basisplaten wat een oppervlak geeft van 256 x 512 studs, wat overeenkomt met een gebied van 
4,10m x 2,05m.
