This is the third Community contest that I have entered. I. The Robot 1. power The robot is powered by the new motor from the inventor motor movers set (4094). connected to a 9v battery box by long cables. The Drive train is both simple and complicated. I used the sliding worm gear trick and different gear ratios that take up the same lenght so that fowards on the motor makes it go forward but reverse makes it rotate. 2. Wheels The descission to use treads came about after I had tested every wheel I have in my lego collection to see what gripped the best on various surfaces. I belive that the reason treads worked best is that they have the best contact on the surface. II. The Ramp(s) 1. material testing The material I decided upon was two layed cardboard from the box of our new TV. I had experimented with sanded plywood, varnished ply wood-with two different varnishes, card board, and foam board. I chose cardboard because it was just the right length so I could prop it up on my couch and the robot would climb to the top and be able to crawl onto the level arm rest. Also the robot performed best on the cardboard and sanded ply wood but it was the same angle and the cardboard is shorter so I used it. 2. measurements |\ | \ |A \C |_ \ |_|B_\<- angle=47º A=27in B=31in C rounded=41in I forgot to mention that it's name is low cog and the mini figure pilot's name is John.
