Jimminy 2 Entry for CC:5 in the legomindstorms forum 1.Legs Jimminy 2, like his predicesor has 6 legs. The legs move by having the outside legs move forward while the center leg is up. Then the center leg rotates downward pushing it forward more. On top of the legs are little yellow lift arms that I use to press the touch sensor and tell the rcx when it makes a complete rotationso it can keep the legs aligned as it is walking. It has one major difference from the first jimminy :it has a much smaller outside step but a larger inside step. 2.Motors/power The motors are placed one on the front end and one on the back end to allow it to have an equal weight distribution between the front and back meaning it won't tip over easily while it is moving. As you can notice from the pictures the motors and the new motors from that inventors set (got 2 half price at target!). I geared it down by powering a 24 tooth crown gear with by a small 8 tooth gear. 3. The program The program is a simple line following program-much like the one used in the training missions except that it has a part in it that allows it to keep the legs alligned while taking half steps (a half step is half a leg rotation). The touch sensors are important in the program because they allow it to make half a rotation then return to the upright position where the touch sensor is. I also wrote a BBRC program for it and built a claw on it so I can make it move about under remote control and it can grab stuff and bring it to me. 4. Decoration Once again the pilot is john the minifigure. There are two parts to the covering (the front where john is and the back where the cockpit cover is) which fold back to allow acess to the buttons. One last thing : I dropped one of the sides when I was testing it and it didn't even get a scratch! Trip time: 1 minute, 1 second
