Sept 30 2010 My first WIP of the classic Monorail, but build using a much older classic space theme. Most of the first generation classic space ships were known for mostly gray and blue with trans-yellow window. They often had LL-xxx mark on the body and small yellow and black mark on it. I won't be doing heavy SNOT'ing as I'm more of classic style than modern style. The first picture shows the prototype made using LDD. The rear-most car is missing the wind screen because there is no 6x4x2 hinged windscreen at all. That will go in there. I originally planned to fill in the remaining gap with a 4x4 trans-yellow plate but it doesn't exist so I'll have to figure out something. The ugly orange pile of brick is for the motor. I decided to stop for now. The front (main engine) will have a battery and a double yellow cockpit window (6x4x2 connected to 4x4x2 connected to 1x4 hinged plate). The black plate is a near accurate facesimile of the original Monorail car, 4x20 with hanging edge. The clear bricks under it sets the plate to approximate height that a real car would from wheel to the base. I do have enough monorail parts to build 8 cars long. I don't think I got enough other parts though so I'll start with a main engine, 2 cars, and a trailing cab. I don't know yet if I'll make more of the same cars or if I'd build a couple flat cargo carrier, it depends on how the real thing behaves when I get around to digging through my Lego. I do have some 2x2 towball plates if the 1x4 I'm using brings the car too close together to handle curves. The 2x2 platyes will stick out 1 stud on one side but I think I have enough clearance with current design.
