As cool as the official Pizza Planet delivery truck is, it's clearly scaled to allow the Toy Story minifigs to drive it like they did in TS2. What I wanted was something more in scale with regular minifigs, so I designed this 6-wide version which I can put in MichLUG layouts. The rocketship on top is a modification of the one on the official model, which looks smaller because the fins are flipped so they point inwards, but it's actually larger and uses more pieces. I was also able to use the "YO" and license plate tiles on the back of the truck. One of the key problems I had in making this look like the Pizza Planet truck and not just any yellow pickup was getting the underside of the body to slope upwards behind the rear wheels, which I was able to accomplish by hanging some grilled cheeses upside-down using a trick that I stole (and improved) from Chris Leach. There's actually an assembly of eight pieces that hang upside down behind both rear wheels and wrapping around inside the tailgate to accomplish this. After the truck design was complete, I had to figure out what to do about a driver. The Pizza Planet truck has appeared in almost every Pixar movie so far, but I could only find a few quick shots of the driver in the original Toy Story. And they weren't very helpful. You never see a clear view of the driver from the front, so I wasn't sure if there was any sort of logo on his shirt or what his face looked like. I was able to confirm that he wears a red baseball cap, a light-blue shirt, and blue jeans, so what I did was use a Claw Alien torso on dark-blue legs. Buzz Lightyear is safely seatbelted into the passenger seat while Woody takes his chances with the toolbox in the cargo bed. In 2011, this MOC won "Best Earth Vehicle" at Brickworld 5.
