This is a rare light gray shield I purchased from Global Building. 
The owner of the shop obtained this piece in the rare Space set 1593, 
Super Model. Set 1593 was released in 1983, 1 year before the dark gray 
shield appeared in Castle sets. 

The shield has a greater diameter and its ridges are less defined. 
The handle is much thicker than that of a normal utensil and the minifigure's 
hand is put under stress when it holds this.
