This little gizmo is used for turning lights on and off remotely. Connect a IR-controlled motor to the white gear-clutch and your set. When you turn the motor on, it will either jam against the clutch, or turn the lever on. If it turned the lever on, reversing the motor will turn lever off, but it will not travel all the way to the other on position. It's important to connect the motor using a clutch (the white gear on the model/pictures), otherwise you are likely to damage the motor. When building the model, make sure that the slide is firmly against the sidewall when the lever is in the neutral/off position. After you have built it, you can decide if you want the default to be either on or off, by simply turning the lever to the desired position. Do this before you attach the motor... Oh - and you don't have to use old technic bricks in the middle, regular bricks will do just fine.
