James Hopper 4/14/09 Industrial Revolution Essay The Industrial Revolution began in England because England had the nescisarry resources to industrialize itself. England also had canals for shipping goods, as well as being surrounded by water (No part of England is more than about 100 miles from the sea). Lastly, England had enough workers, in the form of farmers. These farmers would later move to the factories. England had the nescisarry resources needed for an Industrial Revolution. These rescources included Iron Ore, Coal, Trees, Wool and Water. The Iron ore would make the factory machines, as well as many products of the factories. The coal would power many of the steam engines being run throughout the country, as well as being able to be burned for heat to smelt the Iron Ore. The trees would be used partially to construct the factories, but also to build homes, and as part of many products of the factories. Wool was used in a large amout of products, especially in the textile industry. Lastly, the Water would power the factories themselves, in the form of water wheels, and later in steam engines. Workers for the factories came in the formo of farmers from England's many farms. They happily went to work in the factories because of the higher wages. Farmers began moving near the factories, forming cities. In conclusion, The Industrial Revolution began in England because England had the proper resources, and enough workers. The Industrial Revolution was sucessful because of the assembly line, which assigned each worker a small, specific job, speeding up production. English scientific Ideas and Innovations were a direct cause of the start and continuation of The Industrial Revolution in England.
