THE WOMAN WHO RAN ON ALL FOURS There once was a young man, who shall be referred to as "N", who moved to the city to attend college. Instead of living directly in the city, "N" decided to rent an apartment in the country-side and commute. "N" had purchased a yellow motor scooter and a helmet and every day after class he could be seen riding home to his apartment to study. On his way home one evening, "N" found himself traveling down a lonely stretch of road. He had never really paid attention to his surrounding before, but on this night he did. He noticed that the road he traveled was void of any people, cars or homes. He began to feel goose bumps rising on his skin. It was then that he saw a woman, up ahead standing on the side of the road. She wore a red coat and was waving to him as if asking for help. "N" noticed that she did not look very well, and he wondered what was wrong with her, but he was very scared and decided not to stop. Once he passed her, a spooky feeling came over "N" and he drove his moped even faster in hopes of getting away from the woman. He looked in his rear view mirror to see the woman whom he had just passed, but to his shock, instead of standing in the distance, she was following after him down the street! And instead of running normally, she seemed to be scampering behind him on her hands and feet like an animal! "N" began to panic and thinking that his mind was playing tricks on him in the dark, raced his moped to 60 kilometers per hour! But when he looked in his mirror she was still there behind him and she was gaining on him! "N" tried to speed away, but his scooter could not go any faster and when he looked in the mirror again, she was right behind him! He then heard her spooky voice in his ear, "Why didn't you pick me up and give me a ride?" Paralyzed with fear "N" fell off of his moped which flew through the air and crashed. The woman was gone but "N" was injured and he was taken to the hospital. When his friends visited him, "N" told them about what had happened but no one would believe his strange story of the woman who ran on all fours. The End. _____________________________________________ BACKGROUND: These Lego vignettes were based on a Japanese 'candy-toy' which I found in a local Japanese grocery store in the fall of 2004. The toys were crafted by Takaki Yamamoto, a talented Japanese artist who also wrote the stories for each scene. Each box came with a random toy, a piece of chewing gum and a folded card with the story of the ghostly vignette scene. An elderly female neighbor originally from Japan translated the stories for me to the best of her abilities, but she can not speak English very well and I added a bit more to the stories for effect, so I know some parts of some of the stories were not properly translated. If anyone can read Japanese and is interested, please e-mail me at good.fortune@verizon.net. I can scan and e-mail the story booklet to you and if you help me with any major problems I have in my translation, I can redo these read-me files and will mention your name in them. Thank you.
