Despite their fearsome appearance, the main food source of Bula Bats is Bula berries. They see the world in energy, so matoran who rest with their arms sticking out are safe, while those who curl up and resemble, to them, a large Bula berry, risk getting attacked by Bula bats. While they prefer large, open caverns, they can be trained to protect areas and to scout, though their high velocity flight and jarringly sharp turns make them extremely poor mounts. Just like other flying Rahi, they speak the *language of the flyers*, though it's not known if any had spoken to Turaga Nuju whilst he was on Mata Nui.
