Entry: chMney By GeoBrick Part Specs: RIS 2.0, Ultimate Builder's Set, [a lot of liftarms from] Vision Command, and various other less notable sets Robot Description: More or less M shaped (as discussed on the the forum), hence the name chMney. The long arm out in front of the robot is for a counterweight that keeps the robot from rotating backwards as it climbs. The conglomeration of gears in the back is a differential system allowing one motor to pull a pin to extend the arms and to drop cargo (a rocket-shaped doohicky I made just for fun). The arms, once released, are extended by several rubber bands pulling the peaks of the M together. Performance Specs: Minimum Dimensions: 6.75 in. tall, 11.25 in. wide, 15 in. long Maximum Dimensions: 7.75 in. tall, 14.5 in. wide Chimney Width: 13.5 in. wide Speed: The robot climbed 1 ft. in exactly 25 sec. Weight: About 2 lbs. Max. Payload: About 3 lbs. (So basically, the robot can transport a maximum of 5 lbs. including its own weight.) Program: It's a very simple, self explanitory program. The only notable thing is the countoff at the beginning. That just gives me a chance to get my hands out of the way after pressing the run button. Notes: The robot drops its cargo when the light sensor detects darkness. In tests, I had a third wall in the chimney. On that wall, I drew a black line. So, when the robot reached the line, it would drop its cargo and end the program.
