The NETCA Show in Marlboro Mass, March 2003. For the 2003 NETCA show seven members volunteer to display a small layout for NELUG. The layout that we came up with is 6'8" by 10'. At one end is an amusement park that takes up 1/3 of the layout. The amusement park includes 6 working rides and two that are for show. At the other end of the layout is a town that took up the remaining 2/3 of the layout. Some of its highlights are a large 1800's factory building that packages LEGO sets, a four story warehouse building that has been converted into a bank on the first floor and a night club on the top floors, a high rise building that is 4' tall, and a road crew that is laying asphalt and end up flattening a worker in the process. Each section of the layout is connected by a large loop running around the edge of the layout and a smaller loop that circles the town. On the outer loop we ran a Sante Fe train with a custom built B car. We also let the old 7722 battery powered train run the loop once. It was on display at the amusement park's station. On the inner loop we ran a custom built freight train that has a pin hole camera in the cock pit. A monitor was placed under the table for the vistors to watch. The most exciting part to was the s-curve between the park and the factory. This show is always a rush to set up and take down, but I love seeing what we can do in such a short time frame.
