Modifications on 8436-I:

I like the design of the 8436 truck but not its pneumatic moduls. The pneumatic cylinders are too weak: You cannot play with either the crane or the towing car because it is nearly impossible to lift any weight.
The first thing I added was a clutch for a trailer (as I did with 8854 and 8868). I moved the seats one hole backwards to be able to fit in technic figures. After that I decided to make more substancial changes:
The whole chassis now is shorter than the original 8436. I used the new panels from 8386 and the wheels on this truck.
For future pneumatic add-ons, I put in an electric compressor with air tank: The battery box and the tank fit behind the side panels. The motor and pump rest inside the drivers cabin between the seats.
