Orbital Drop Shock Troopers are usually used for quick invasions in which the capital can be taken over within a day.  They drop from carriers in space and, utilizing special armor and shielding for the drop into a planet's atmosphere, lands into a capital without burning in the atmosphere.  ODSTs are harsh and very elite and are also seasoned veterans.

Photograph 1 shows a Sergeant, a commander of an ODST squad, in full atmospheric gear.  The helmet allows the ODST to breathe while quickly falling through the sky.  Photo 2 shows a private, a lower-ranked ODST, identifiable by the different-colored visors.  Photo 3 shows an ODST sergeant in gear that is more casual after being on the ground for an extended stay.  The ODSTs are cocky and thus wear lighter armor when operating on the ground for extended tours of duty.  Photo 4 shows an ODST private in casual ground armor.  Photo 5 shows an ODST sergeant's armor.  Photo 6 shows an ODST sergeant's casual ground armor, discriminated from the private's casual ground armor by a different-colored helmet.
