BNG: Lewa vs Onua Test Short or What is a toa? written by Crainy, Jupiter, Lunekk 1 - Prologue The screen is covered in darkness. Distorted and echoing sounds that somewhat resemble the likeliness of a mine can be heard somewhere far in the background. It can be assumed that we are underground. White smoke starts to assemble infront of the screen and slowly forms itself into plain, white text: "What´s a toa?" - Pohatu. The clearer the text gets, the more louder and more distorted the echoes become. Finally, a scrap of light can be seen on the edges of the screen. The camera slowly moves out of a hexagon like hole, backwards, facing the darkness the camera just came out of. The quote starts to dissolve and the distorted noises eventually start to become recognizable sounds of digging and metal hitting stone. The camera continues to move backwards while panning slightly up, revealing more hexagon like shapes and finally a gigantic wall, reminiscent of those of a bee hive. Only parts of this enormous structure are visible, while most of it is consumed by shadows and darkness. Here and there, hardly visible, insect like creatures pass the screen, making wasp like sounds. Suddenly, a huge bird like creature passes through the hole in the wall, flying directly at the camera, at a rapid speed. The camera starts to move back faster and faster, catching up with the bird, which is revealed to be a matoran, riding a Kahu. They quickly pass by a bunch of digging and hard working Matoran, some of whom are equipped with picks, while others hold glowing stones in their hands, which seem to provide the only source of light in this horrific place. Suddenly, one of the insect like creatures, holding a shiny object in his hands, attacks from the side and pulls the Matoran and his Kahu to the ground, where they crash. The insect gets crushed under the Kahu, letting go of the metallic object. The matoran, who is revealed to be Takua, falls off from his Kahu and slides towards the camera. The metallic object, a powerless Kanohi Miru, lands right beside him. The camera moves further backwards. Suddenly, an axe like weapon, green, gets bashed into the stone, just in front of the camera, covering the entire right side of the screen. The shot ends. 2 - Nui-Rama Hive The camera jumps infront of the entity holding the axe, which is mostly covered in shadows, while only its legs and feet are visible. The camera pans upwards and the creature slowly steps out of the shadows. The darkness starts to cover less and less of its body, a stature identical to that of a toa can be seen. Finally, the entity leans forward: It seems to be toa Lewa, wearing an infected Kanohi Miru. The camera jumps behind the toa, who now looks, with watchfull eyes, over his hard working slave matoran. The camera jumps closer to the crashed Takua. Lewa can be seen blurred in the background. The matoran crawls towards the Kanohi that just landed infront of him and grabs it, which is presumably Lewas original mask. The small entity carefully inspects the mask, probably to be save that the mask is still completely intact. A voice can be heard from off camera. It is Turaga Matau, covered behind a formation of rocks, whispering towards Takua. Turaga Matau (Quietly) Takua! Get cover! Lewa is infected! Takua turns his head to Turaga Matau, then looks at the mask hes holding in his hands. Suddenly, Lewa turns his head to this non working Matoran - he has noticed what is going on. Takua also quickly notices that and tries to hide the Kanohi behind him, but it is already too late. Lewa rips his axe out of the stone ground and starts to menacingly walk towards his target, while halfheartedly whipping the dirt from his axe. Each of his steps are powerfull and intimidating. [A long shot starts, following the Matoran] For a few seconds, Takua just watches in shock, until he starts to simply crawl away from his incoming doom, taking the Miru with him. Lewa, who has still to make some distance to reach the Matoran, starts to crouch and, with the power of his Miru, launches himself high into the air, before landing directly behind Takua. The camera starts to shake from the impact and Takua falls to the ground. Lewa reaches out to Takua and grabs him by his neck, recklessly lifting him up until they are face to face, which causes the Matoran to drop the Miru to the ground. Lewa menacingly grunts Takua in the face before throwing him right at the camera, where he crashes into the ground, while leaving a painfull, but rather quiet scream. Lewa, now faster, starts to walk closer and closer to Takua, lifting his axe and prepares to strike the matoran down. However, he gets interrupted in his actions, as suddenly the ground starts to shake, causing him to loose a bit of balance. Both Lewa and Takua look around, confused. The shaking stops. Lewa still looks around and checks if everything is how its supposed to be, before continuing. He lifts his axe again and prepares to strike. Takua tries to cover his face with his hands. As Lewa launches his weapon towards the matoran, the shot goes into slow-motion. The ground starts to shake again. In the middle of the strike, the ground to the right of Lewa starts to "explode" and a black Toa jumps out of the rubble, directly at Lewa, screaming. Rubble and dirt are flying everywhere. In mid jump, the toa "engulfs" Lewa with his big black claws and pulls him away from Takua, which causes the axe to just scratch the matoran on his arm. The slow motion ends and both toa fall out of the view. 3 - Onua steps in The toa sligthly struggle with each other in mid-air, before crashing with their backs first into the ground, which releases Lewa from the fangs of the other toa, causing him to tumble further along the ground, before coming to a sudden stop by crashing into a wall of rocks. Dust and dirt got whirled everywhere, partially covering the screen. For a few seconds, theres slience, only the sounds of the hive and that of falling rocks can be heard. The dust settles, the camera jumped close to the black toa, who is recovering from the fall and tries to stand up, but under quite some efforts. Dirt and stones cover his body which fall off in the process of standing up. The camera rises with his upper body. He turns his body towards the camera, still some dust is coming off his body. His bright green eyes are the only thing that cleary set him apart from his surroundings, seeing how the toa himself is just as dark as those. It is Onua. His eyes form a grim expression. The camera cuts to Lewa, who has an alot harder time recovering from the attack then Onua did. While slowly standing up, a head-sized rock falls down on his body, which tosses Lewa to the ground ones more, until he uses his axe to sustain his balance. Through this entire torture, Lewa doesnt say one word, not even a slight groan. The camera cuts to Onua, he looks over his shoulder at the matoran who have gathered behind him. Onua (Serious tone) Stand back! As soon as these words are spoken, he immediately focuses his attention back on Lewa, who seems to have fully recovered, but seems to have different problems now. He is slightly crouched, his hands on his head, tumbeling back and forth, before trying to focus on Onua. Lewa (Stammering) Onua..(short stop)please.. (abrupt stop)... i.. i cant control it (lowers his head). The camera briefly cuts to Onua, who seems to be intrigued by Lewas nonsensical rambling. The camera cuts back to Lewa, moving closer and closer to his face. Lewa (Stammering) Please, Onua... (stops to take breath) leave this place.. (longer stop) i... i cant... (much quieter) i cant... As he talks the last words, he tilts his formerly lowered head upwards, now looking directly at Onua. The camera still moves closer to his eye, until the entire screen is covered in their yellow light. In a transition of shots, the camera now pans out of the eye, which now belongs to Onua, who is slightly softening his mimic. The camera pans out until Onuas entire head is visible, then starts to slow down. Onua (With some pity, while slightly nodding his head) You now i cant do that. The camera cuts to Lewa, who starts to shake in anger, even letting out quiet roars. He uses the power of his Miru to launch himself into the air, directly at Onua. The camera is now set in Lewas point of view, getting closer and closer to Onua. Onuas Kanohi Pakari starts to glow and shift itself into a Kanohi Hau, hundreds of small lights erupt from the mask while shifting. Onua quickly uses the power of this Kanohi to create a forcefield around him, just a second before Lewa would hit him. Lewas axe crashes into the forcefield, repelling him backwards, however, he lands safely due to his Kanohi Miru, just a few feet away from Onua, but thrown off balance. Onua uses this to his favour, charges in, grabs Lewas right arm, pulls him close to him and uses this additional momentum to give him a punch right into his chest, causing Lewa to tumble further backwards. 4 - Lewa Lewa starts to recovere from the attack, while Onua just stands there, closely observing Lewas every move, while changing his mask back to his Pakari. Lewa seems to notice that and jumps onto a nearby rockformation, where he crouches, looking down at Onua. Lewa (In a begging tone) Onua, please.. (long stop) i dont want to... (short stop) i dont want to fight you. I dont want to hurt you... The camera cuts to Onua, his mimic gets serious, a bit of anger can be seen in his eyes. He throws his arm out and points at Lewa. Onua (Loud and in a serious tone) No! (Short stop) You dont want me to go because you dont want to fight me, you want me to go because you dont want to fight (emphasised) yourself! Its easier to just give in to the corruption, isnt it? Thats weak, Lewa! You are supposed to be a toa, prove yourself worthy of that title! The camera cuts to Lewa. Onuas words seem to have made him completely insecure, despair can be seen in his eyes. However, this quickly changes, as the insecurity starts to transform into even more anger and hate. Again, he uses the power of his Miru to launch himself into the air, directly at Onua. While in the air, Lewa grabs his axe with both hands and prepares to fataliy strike Onua with it. But Onua is prepared. Just in time, he dodges the attack by jumping to the left, Lewas attack hits the ground, where his axe seem to get stuck. Onua uses this opportunity to brutaly kick Lewa into the back of the knee, causing him to fall on his knees, rendering him incabable of countering Onuas attacks. Onua now grabs Lewas head, using all of his power to smash him into the ground. The impact repells Lewa backwards into air, but he uses his Miru to atleast land on his feet, even though he seems to be nearly knocked out. Onua charges in and grabs the dazed Lewa by his mask, trying to forcefully pull it off. Lewa tries to rather pathetically struggle against that. Onua (Sligthly out of breath) I wonder, was that just Makuta attacking me, or was that Lewa? These words bring the rage back into Lewa. He escapes Onuas grip by first ripping the toas arms of his infected mask, then sucker punching Onua in the face, which causes him to tumble slightly backwards, smoothly followed up by grabbing his axe with both hands and forcefully launching it at the dizzy Onua, ramming it directly into his right shoulder, nearly cutting his arm off, which causes Onua to let out a slight scream of pain. Now, Lewa uses his axe, which is somewhat stuck in Onuas gears, as a hold and jumps onto Onua, placing his feet at his enemies shoulders. After finding balance, he uses the power of his Miru to forcefully jump off of Onua, while ripping his axe out of him. The force of Lewas jump sends Onua flying straigth backwards, while Lewa gets repelled high into the air. The camera follows Onua, he looses height and hits his head on the ground, which causes him to do a backflip, before he crashes onto the ground. He slides further along the ground, trying to grab hold with his claws, which causes him to get slower and slower, before he finally comes to a stop. Dirt and dust fly around everywhere, as Onua slowly stands up, under quite some effort, letting out a few grunts. Full of anger, he looks at Lewa, who has savely landed on the same rockformation he earlier jumped off from. Onua (Full of anger) Thats it! I´ll rip that mask from you like i would for every other rahi! 5 - Onua Both toa have taken alot of damage from the fight. The camera cuts to Lewa, who is starring at Onua and getting ready to attack. The camera jumps back to Onua, his mimic gets serious and he suddenly starts to sprint towards Lewa. At pretty much the same time, Lewa starts to again launch at Onua, wanting to strike him with his axe. Unlike last time, Onua does not attempt to dodge, instead, he counters Lewas attack by quickly grabbing Lewas axe in mid air, a move that Lewa wasnt prepared for. Onua uses all of his power to pull Lewa to the ground, then proceeds to give him a powerfull headbutt, which causes Lewa to tumble a bit backwards. Lewa now quickly points his axe at Onua, shooting a blast of air out of it. Lewa now charges in, launching his axe at Onua, which the toa barely manages to dodge, taking a slight stroke to his chest. The infected toa now gets ready for another strike, he lunges his axe high into the air, using both hands, but before he can even start to launch it at his enemie, Onua grabs Lewa at his hands, interrupting his attack, and uses his other hand to grab Lewa by his chest. The scene goes into slow-motion. Onua now does a 180 degree turn, taking Lewa with him and then forcefully throwing him at a rockformation nearby. While turning, Onua changes his mask into a noble Matatu. The slow-motion ends. Lewa flys towards the rocks, but before he can crash into them, he uses his Miru to do a backflip and lands with his feet first on the rocks. He now pushes himself away from these, launching again at Onua, lunging his axe into the air. Onua now uses the power of his Matatu to levitate all stones and even big rocks around him into the air, and when Lewa comes closer, he launches them at the incoming toa. A rock big enough to cover Onua from Lewas field of view is about to crash into Lewa, but he uses his axe to strike it, shattering it into hundreds of pieces. However, Onua is waiting, holding a rather big stone in his hands. He uses all of his force to throw it at Lewa, whos mask is without protection now. The rock brutally crashes into Lewas face, causing his infected mask to shatter into pieces. The impact also makes Lewa do a backflip in the air, but then he crashes into the ground, back first, where he comes to a stop, just right behind Onua, who also falls to the ground, seeing how he put his entire balance into that one throw. For some seconds, there is silence. Several Matoran start to gather around the two toa. Onua starts to stand up, again under a little bit of effort. While standing up, he changes his mask back to his Pakari and turns to Lewa, who is not moving one bit. The camera cuts to Lewa, who is just lying there, the right side of his face is partially damaged. Onua walks up to him, stops right before Lewa and looks down at him, with an expecting face. While that, the camera is looking up at Onua, making him look superior. The camera cuts back to Lewa, he starts to slightly move his head and letting out some grunts. The camera cuts to the matoran, each of them looking at Lewa with a bit of hope in their eyes. Finally, Lewa starts to look at Onua, dazed and barely conscious, while again, letting out quiet grunts. Lewa (Quiet) Onua... Onua doesnt respond. Lewa starts slowly and under effort to push his body upwards, making him sit in a kneeling position. Lewa looks again up to Onua and then starts to look at the matoran next to him. Lewas eyes start to fill with shame and shock as he looks at the creatures he was supposed to protect. Lewa lowers his head in shame. One of the matoran, Takua, walks up to him. He is holding Lewas original Miru. When he comes close enough, he offers it to Lewa. Lewa looks at the matoran, he doesnt seem to be sure if he should take the mask or not, he then lowers his head again. Lewa Onua (longer stop). Did you mean it? Did you mean everything? Onua Im sorry, but it was the only way. Lewa starts to look at Onua. Lewa For what? Onua (Pointing at Lewa) To gain the tactical advantage. Lewa turns his head again at Takua. He slowly reaches out to his Miru and grabs it, taking it gently and carefully out of the matorans hands. Than he proceeds to stand up. Under effort and possibly under some pain, he sets one foot in front of the other, the camera follows his feet, as he slowly starts to walk upwards. With every step, the camera moves higher and higher until Lewas face is visible, he puts on his mask, sparks and light eject from the mask and it turns from its powerless state into a golden Kanohi mask. The camera jumps to the matoran, their mimics change to pride. Lewa turns his head to Onua, nodding, before going to his matoran. Onuas look follows Lewa, a glance of pity can be seen in Onuas eyes. Lewa didnt seem to notice that Onua did, in fact, not answer Lewas question. Lewa knees down before his fellow matoran and looks each of them in the eye. Not one of them says a word. Lewa I cant expect from you that you lay your trust in me again, so i wont ask. Turaga Matau steps up to Lewa. Matau We all have our flaws, Lewa. The question is how we choose to deal them. And as long as you do, Le-Koro will never loose faith in you. The camera jumps above them, Onua walks up to Lewa and the matoran, he looks at up, into the darkness. Lewa quickly follows his look, as the camera proceeds to move further away from them. Nui-Rama start to fly by the screen. Onua Time to find a way out of here. More and more Nui-Rama start to fly by the screen, until the entire camera is black.
