Spider Folly

(A sinister moralistic tale inspired by several short stories in the HP Lovecraft genre.)

As the road steepens, the four teenage friends - Tom, Barbera, Janet and Brad - decide to continue on foot ...
(Brad has very distinctive bushy hair, Janet carries a camera)

 1)  Janet: "Oh Brad!  You've squashed a spider"
      Brad: "So what?  Nasty big hairy things!  Shouldn't be allowed!"

 2)   Brad: "Time to go swimming you brute!"

 3)   Brad: "Yuck! They're everywhere!"
   Barbera: "I think they heard the first one scream"

 4)   Brad: [sings] "Stomping spiders! Oh what fun!"
     Janet: "Brad! No!"

 5)   Brad: [sings] "Squashing spiders! Oh what fun!"
     Janet: "Brad! NO!!"

 6)  Janet: "Look! Spider Folly"
   Barbera: "What's a folly?"
       Tom: "A building in the form of a castle, temple, or such like, built to satisfy a fancy or conceit, often built initially as a ruin"

 7)   Brad: "Boring! It's shut"

 8)  Janet: "Pass the cakes please Tom"

 9)   Brad: "Come on Janet! Let's explore"

10)  Janet: "No Brad!  ...  Brad!  I said NO!!"

11)   Brad: [muttering] "Girls!  No fun at all!"

12)   Brad: "More!"

13)   Brad: [sings] "Smouldering spiders! Oh what fun!"

14)   Brad: "Look at me!"
     Janet: "Brad! NO! Come down at once"
      Brad: [mutters] "Shan't"

A piercing scream ...

15)  Janet: "Brad?  Brad!"

16)  Janet: "NO!!!  It's Brad!" [swoons]
1st Spider: "So what?  Nasty big hairy things!  Shouldn't be allowed!"
2nd Spider: "I think they heard the first one scream!"
