This model is dedicated to the memory of my father, Robert H. Ward,
who flew the PB4Y-2 on flare-dropping missions during the Korean War
in the early 1950's.  He passed away on November 9, 2001.

This is the PB4Y-2 "Privateer", a Navy patrol bomber which was based
on the B-24 "Liberator".  In fact, the Navy first ordered B-24's and
designated them PB4Y-1's.  The most obvious difference is the single
tail instead of twin tails, but also the PB4Y-2 is longer and has more
guns.
