It is usually launched from a larger scout vessel or quartered at temporary base. The ship can support a crew of three comfortably for only 23 days before its supply of oxygen and comestibles are exhausted. In practice, the cramped conditions aboard the ship limit the crew to one week excursions from their central base. Longer missions are reserved for planets with breathable atmospheres where the crew can get out and explore on foot. Space onboard is at a premium. Many tools are stored on the outside of the ship. The cargo hold is inaccessable on the ground; the ship must use its gravitic drive to hover high enough to allow the crew access underneath the ship. The ship is fast, maneuverable, and sturdy but not at all intended for combat. Its sole laser cannon is more often than not used at minimum power as a range-finder. The ship is pressure-resistant enough to explore a gas giant, and does posess some shields for defense against micrometeoroids, but military-grade weapons would obliterate the ship entirely.
