README An illustrated version of these instructions can be found at http://stickers.trainedbricks.com 00 A preview of the finished product 01 Before starting gather the original model and the new parts 02 You will need these additional parts to complete the MOD. 03 This sticker sheet will help complete the look of your modified model, available at http://TrainedBricks.com 10 Yes, 10 always comes right after 3. With that out of the way, remove the cab from your model. 11 Dissemble the sides and bottom of the front, then pull the number boards (cheese slopes) off of the top of front of the cab, as shown. 12 Salvage these parts from the disassembly and bring in the pair of 1x2 black cheese slopes. 13 Put the cheese slopes on the cab where the number boards used to be. 20 Now return to the body of the locomotive. 21 Gently disassemble the locomotive and pull out the parts on the left. Do not start to reassemble the model or otherwise tighten what remains at this point. 22-25 Build up the new cab walls. If you do not plan to use the sticker sheet from 03 turn the "10219" bricks so that the numbers face outward, otherwise, face the numbers inward. Note how the sides are actually supported by the white plate and tiles across the top while the Maersk blue walls are resting on the 1x8 tile below... the joys of part availability necessitate creative thinking. 30-32 Build up the cab windows. Images 31 & 32 are optional, but will help mask the inside of the 1x2x1 panel when viewed from the front. When cutting the black rectangles, be sure to test the fit while the sticker is still on the backing, it is a tight fit on the inside of the panel and it is okay if you cut them a little smaller than the rectangle. 40-44 Reassemble the back of the cab. 45 Install the new cab windows. It might be a little tricky, if so, potentially install them in conjunction with adding the rear cab assembly in image 42. 50-51 If you are not applying the new stickers you can stop here (do not remove the number boards in image 11 and rotate the two bricks 180ø in image 23). 60-62 Otherwise, if you are applying the new stickers, remove and replace the rear number boards with the new 1x1 cheese bricks. 70 Now that the physical rebuild is complete, you can start adding the stickers 71 Cut the remaining stickers out as shown (see note on the next step about the cab windows) and read the sticker application instructions at http://stickers.trainedbricks.com 72-76 Apply the stickers as shown. Note that for the cab windows the closer you can get to the edge of the rectangle the better. Since the top edge aligns with the seam for the cab roof you want the edge to be flush. Hint- cut the top and bottom of the window and use whichever edge that comes out best for the top of the cab window (see image 72). 80 Gather up the now unused parts and store in a safe place in case you want to return your model to the original design (while I have not had any bad experiences with the decals, I cannot guarantee that they will be problem free over a long period of time, so only use them at your own risk and responsibility) 81 To improve performance of this build you might want to also remove the traction bands from the unpowered wheels. 90 A comparison between the stock model and the modified model 91 Enjoy
