An electrical Lego clock without using a factor 5 The problem is: between a seconds hand revolution and a minutes hand revolution is a factor 60. 60 factorizes to 2*2*3*5. The only gears I own are 8, 14, 16 and 24. No way there can be a factor 5, or 2.5 etc for that matter. The solution: I've got a differential. A differential can calculate half the sum of it's two side axles. By feeding it with axle's rotating 1 and 9 revolutions, the output is 5. The other way around, by putting 5 in, hooking the side axles in a gear train loop from 1 to 9 (2 times 8/24) the results are 1, 3 and 9 revolutions. zomb
