I just read your post about Will's possible past traumas. I loved that post and wondered if you would have any fanfic recs that touch on that same subject? It is so interesting to me that Will can seemingly hold on to two realities at once and keep them separated. In season two he simultaneously built a new relationship to Hannibal and worked with Jack to catch him. And it was unclear to whom Will was actually lying to. Similarly to this I felt that Will knew what Hannibal was even in season 1 but perhaps he separated this part from reality and was holding onto whatever normalcy they had. Ironically for Will on an unconscious level what attracted him to Hannibal was probably his darkness that to Will felt in some way familiar. In doing this he was protecting both Hannibal and himself. This all paints a picture of Will's childhood where he had to uphold a normal front but behind that veil he was being hurt most likely by someone who he depended on.
Ugh, I love this, anon! You saw my post or my reblog of @milkfordragons ? There’s an in depth analysis of Will’s past there, which is the same as what you’re referring to here, so maybe that’s what you mean cause both posts mention Will going through weird shit in his childhood. Anyway, yes, I love the theory that Will had a very traumatic and strange childhood. Unfortunatelly most fics do not dive into this. Herringbone is in Will’s pov and it does allude to some strange things in regards to his mother and his father, but the author does not go into details. I actually considered writing something like this myself but I suck at being consistent with fanfiction and I honestly don’t think I’m a good writer so it’s a bit frustrating cause I have a lot of ideas and inspirations but I end up giving up on actually writing about them.
If anyone has fics that dive into that, let us know. And if anyone wants to write the fic and needs help figuring this out, let me know and I’ll throw all of my theories at you. But I could perhaps write a longer post in a sort of “wikipedia” format of what I think Will’s childhood was like, or not exactly what I think but perhaps my headcanon and some fun realities I think are interesting to consider or would be very intriguing if were shown in canon or fanfiction. Would you guys want something like that? Let me know and I’ll organize the ideas and make a post.
