Will Graham was born to a mother who had suffered multiple miscarriages before his birth. His mother, diagnosed with schizophrenia, believed her children were possessed and attempted to kill two of them, including Will. When he was an infant, she tried to kill him, leading to her institutionalization. This event shaped Will’s perception of himself, as he developed intrusive thoughts about possession, believing that his mother foresaw his eventual darkness. While Will has stated that he never met his mother, he does not claim she is deceased, suggesting that she remains institutionalized.

Childhood and Family Trauma
Following his mother’s institutionalization, Will was raised by his father, a violent and manipulative man. His father remarried, and Will suffered under the abuse of his stepmother, who was both cruel and neglectful. Around the age of six or seven, Will witnessed his father kill his stepmother in a moment of violent rage. The killing was initially accidental, but his father ultimately decided to finish the job. The murder was gruesome and messy, and Will was forced to assist in covering it up.

Will’s father then manipulated him into silence, warning that he would be left homeless if his father were to be imprisoned.
