Red the answer of your previous ask, and really curious, about Will (and Hannibal) as a parent, any child of Will would definitely mature faster, and would probably a fuck ton of issues, but who would you think would be better off a son or a daughter??

A son would likely fare better than a daughter. While Will and his hypothetical son would inevitably drift apart, this distance would be a natural outcome rather than a destructive one. Will is fundamentally incapable of forming deep, lasting connections with anyone except Hannibal…a fact that the show repeatedly reinforces. Despite certain fan interpretations, the core conflict of the show is the isolation of both Will and Hannibal from everyone else, making their bond uniquely profound. Attempts to argue otherwise often stem from personal headcanons rather than textual evidence, that people insist are real and will go on and on to twist canon and fight those who point out the facts, *sigh*.

A son, much like Wally, would ultimately sever ties with Will and move on, which would be for the best. A daughter, however, would not be so fortunate. If she were just a projection, like Abigail, she would likely experience an overwhelming compulsion to escape him, as Abigail did. But if Will were to raise a daughter from birth, he would ensure she remained deeply dependent on him, cultivating a codependence rooted in his own need for devotion. This need would prevent him from fostering the same detachment in a daughter that would come naturally with a son. In a son, he would see too much of himself, unconsciously resenting and rejecting the boy. A daughter, on the other hand, would be shaped to stay, unable to break free, unless separation meant death. Which in my own headcanon, that’s what happens, she forces him to kill her.
