I understand what you mean. A lot of these fics that deal with triggering topics can seem like a sort of exploitation, without much purpose besides shocking. The point with Rotten is to actually elevate pain into a place where it can be dealt with in a pleasurable manner as well as actually providing a voice for victims, even if indirect or through nuances of the narrative.
