I don’t think sex holds the same meaning for Will and Hannibal as it does for most people…which is why the ace vs. non-ace discourse in the fandom often feels misplaced. I don’t see them as traditionally sexual, I don’t think they experience or approach sex the way society defines it. For them, it’s just another way to collapse distance. I genuinely believe they perceive it as something like carving a wound into each other’s flesh and crawling inside…less about desire in the conventional sense and more about a desperate, feral need to dissolve the boundary between self and other.
