Hannigram AU: Doctor Hannibal/Professor Will. They are married, gorgeous, domestic and in love.

Ch. 01

The house was quiet, save for the soft patter of rain against the windows. Hannibal stepped inside, closing the door behind him. The weight of the day settled into his shoulders as he slipped off his coat, hanging it neatly by the door. His hands moved instinctively, unfastening the cuffs of his sleeves, rolling them up as he walked toward the kitchen.

A faint aroma of rosemary and simmering stock lingered in the air—something simple, something warm. He had prepared just enough to fill the space with comfort before stepping back out into the evening. A glance at the clock told him it was time. He washed his hands, dried them, and retrieved his keys from the counter.

Outside, dusk had deepened into night, the rain steady but gentle. The drive was quiet, the road slick with reflections of streetlights and neon signs bleeding into puddles. When he pulled up outside the Academy, he saw him already waiting under the awning, hands in his pockets, hair damp from the mist.

Hannibal stepped out of the car, rain touching his face in cool pinpricks as he approached. Will looked at him, and without hesitation, they met in a kiss—unhurried, familiar. The kind exchanged not out of urgency but as a quiet recognition: you are here, and I am here.

Will took the keys from his hand without a word, and they both moved inside the car. Once settled, Will shrugged off his coat, handing it to Hannibal with an absentminded gesture. Hannibal took it, folding it neatly over his lap.

Another kiss—this one slower, lingering just long enough for warmth to pool between them, to soften the sharp edges of the cold night. Hannibal let his fingers brush along Will’s wrist before pulling back.

“How are you?” he asked, his voice low, steady.

Will exhaled, the faintest trace of a smile at the corner of his mouth. “Fine.”

The engine hummed to life, and the road stretched before them. The drive home was quiet, but not in the absence-of-sound way—rather, in the way of two people who did not need to fill space with words. Rain streaked the windshield in delicate rivulets, the occasional hum of tires against wet pavement the only interruption to the soft cadence of their breathing.

When they pulled into the driveway, Will stepped out first, shoulders hunched slightly against the chill. He was halfway to the door when he noticed Hannibal still seated inside, the faint glow of the overhead light casting his profile in sharp relief.

Will turned back, stepping through the rain to open the driver’s side door. “You planning on spending the night in here?” he asked dryly.

Hannibal, unfazed, was reaching into the glove box, extracting a folded piece of paper with quiet precision. He glanced up, a small smile curving his lips at the sight of Will standing there, holding the door open for him like a chauffeur.

As he moved to step out, his hand found Will’s waist, fingers pressing lightly into the fabric of his shirt as though grounding himself. Will exhaled, the warmth of the touch something familiar, something expected. He let his free hand settle against Hannibal’s back briefly before closing the car door behind them.

Inside, the house greeted them with the lingering scent of their unfinished meal. Hannibal moved toward the kitchen with the same measured ease he did everything, while Will disappeared into the bedroom. When he returned, he was in clean clothes, barefoot, his damp curls pushed back from his face. He hovered in the doorway for a moment, watching Hannibal at the stove—sleeves rolled up, movements precise, the low flicker of the flame catching in the gold of his wedding band as he stirred.

“Need help?” Will asked, though they both knew he didn’t mean it.

Hannibal turned just enough to glance at him, an amused tilt to his brow. “I think I can manage.”

Will smirked, padding over anyway. He stole a piece of bread from the counter, tearing it absently between his fingers before popping a piece into his mouth. Hannibal didn’t stop him.

Dinner was slow, comfortable. They ate with the easy rhythm of people who had done this a thousand times before—passing dishes without asking, nudging ankles beneath the table. Will reached for his glass of wine, but before he could lift it to his lips, Hannibal caught his wrist gently, examining a faint scrape near his knuckles.

“Paper cut?” he asked, his thumb brushing over the skin.

“Student’s report had a vendetta,” Will muttered, taking a sip of wine before Hannibal could scold him for not disinfecting it.

Hannibal hummed, unconvinced, but let it go.

When the meal was done, they moved through the motions of cleaning up without speaking, the quiet sound of running water and the occasional clink of dishes filling the space between them. Without discussion, they made their way to the bathroom.

The shower was warm, steam curling around them as water drummed steadily against tile. Will leaned into the spray first, tilting his head back, eyes fluttering shut. Hannibal stood behind him, hands sliding over his shoulders, mapping the familiar terrain of muscle and bone beneath damp skin.

“You’re tense,” Hannibal murmured, pressing his thumbs into the knots along Will’s spine.

Will huffed a small laugh. “You say that like it’s new information.”

Hannibal didn’t argue, only kneaded the tension from his muscles with deliberate care. Will let himself sink into the touch, head tipping forward slightly. In a quiet act of reciprocation, he reached for the soap and lathered it between his hands before running them down Hannibal’s arms, slow and steady.

By the time they settled in the study, the fire had already begun to take the chill from the air. Hannibal stretched out on the lounge chair first, and Will followed, fitting himself into the space beside him with the ease of habit.

Hannibal had patient files in his lap, Will with a stack of student reports, both absorbed in quiet concentration. Every so often, Will would shift, just enough for the fabric of their clothes to brush together. Hannibal, without looking up, would run a hand absentmindedly along his arm, fingers tracing idle patterns against the sleeve of his shirt.

When the fire had dimmed to a low, flickering glow by the time Will set his last report aside, exhaling as he stretched out his legs. Hannibal had already placed his files on the side table, his hand resting idly on Will’s thigh, thumb moving in slow, unconscious circles. The room smelled of burning wood, faintly sweet and smoky, mingling with the remnants of soap and skin-warm fabric.

Will shifted, letting his head tip against Hannibal’s shoulder. “Tired?” Hannibal asked softly, not moving, as though unwilling to disturb the moment.

Will hummed, his voice edged with the haziness of approaching sleep. “Mhm. You coming?”

Hannibal didn’t answer with words. Instead, he pressed a kiss just behind Will’s ear, slow and deliberate, the warmth of his lips lingering against his skin before he finally stood, offering Will his hand. Will took it without hesitation.

The house was quiet as they moved through it, the faint patter of rain still audible against the windows. In their bedroom, the sheets had already been turned down.

Will pulled his sweater over his head, tossing it onto a nearby chair before sitting on the edge of the bed to remove his socks. Hannibal watched him for a moment, then stepped closer, reaching out to tuck a stray curl behind Will’s ear. His fingers lingered, sliding down to trace along the line of Will’s jaw, tilting his face up.

Will met his gaze, something knowing passing between them before Hannibal leaned down, capturing his lips in a kiss that was slow and searching, deep enough to send a shiver down Will’s spine. Will’s hands found Hannibal’s waist, fingers slipping beneath the fabric of his shirt, warm palms pressing against warm skin.

They undressed with the ease of familiarity—not rushed, but not hesitant either. Clothes were peeled away in quiet motions, and soon they were sinking into the bed together, bodies folding into one another with practiced ease.

Hannibal moved first, rolling Will onto his back with a touch that was firm but unhurried. He pressed his weight against him, not enough to trap, but enough to be felt. His lips found the hollow of Will’s throat, the curve of his collarbone, mapping a path with the usual devotion. Will exhaled sharply, hands threading through Hannibal’s hair, guiding but never forcing.

Their movements were not urgent, not desperate—just steady, deliberate, filled with the quiet intensity of knowing they had nowhere else to be but here. Each touch, each kiss, each shift of breath against skin was something meant to be savored.

After, Will lay against Hannibal’s chest. Hannibal’s fingers traced slow patterns along his back, absentminded but tender. The rain outside had softened to a gentle patter, and the warmth of the sheets cocooned them in a space that felt separate from the rest of the world.

Will let out a small sigh, shifting just enough to press his lips against the center of Hannibal’s chest, right over his heart. “Goodnight,” he murmured, voice thick with exhaustion.

Hannibal’s arms tightened around him, his lips brushing the top of Will’s head in response. “Goodnight, my love.”

The fire in the other room burned down to embers, the house settling into the hush of night. And in the quiet, in the warmth of tangled limbs and slow, steady breaths, they slept.

Ch. 02

The bedroom was still bathed in early morning dimness, the soft glow of dawn filtering through the curtains in pale ribbons of light. The rain had stopped sometime during the night.

Will stirred. Not fully awake, but enough to shift, enough to nuzzle his face against the hollow of Hannibal’s throat where warmth gathered. His breath came slow and steady, brushing against Hannibal’s skin, and his fingers twitched where they had been resting at Hannibal’s waist. He was only half-conscious of the way their legs were tangled, of the weight of an arm draped across his back, keeping him pressed close.

Hannibal had been awake for some time, but he had not moved, content to feel the steady rise and fall of Will’s chest against his own. He let his hand trace lazy circles over the bare skin of Will’s back, featherlight, his fingers mapping the subtle dips of his spine, the warmth of his skin still carrying traces of sleep.

Will made a quiet sound at the touch, something between a hum and a sigh, shifting just enough to press a slow kiss against Hannibal’s collarbone. His lips were warm, slightly dry from sleep, but the kiss was unhurried, lingering in the way that spoke of waking up slowly, of not wanting to leave the comfort of the bed just yet.

Hannibal let his fingers slide up, following the curve of Will’s shoulder, then down the length of his arm. When Will lifted his head slightly, Hannibal caught his face in his hands, thumbs smoothing over the faint indentations left by the pillow. He looked at him for a moment, eyes soft with something unreadable, something quiet but heavy.

“Hi,” Will murmured, his voice still thick with sleep, low and rasping.

“Hello, you,” Hannibal said, his fingers brushing along Will’s jaw before tilting his face up. Their lips met in a kiss that was slow, deep, the kind that carried no urgency, only the quiet certainty of familiarity. Will sighed into it, his hands finding their way to Hannibal’s ribs, sliding over warm skin with a kind of reverence.

The kiss deepened, languid and consuming, sheets warmed by bodies pressed close. Will let himself be pulled further into it, let his body mold into Hannibal’s, the shape of them curling into one another like something inevitable.

When they finally broke apart, Will rested his forehead against Hannibal’s, eyes still half-lidded, fingers still tracing idle patterns against his skin. Hannibal let his hand drift up, threading fingers through Will’s curls, thumb brushing over the shell of his ear in a touch so light it sent a shiver down his spine.

“Stay here a little longer,” Hannibal murmured, his voice softer in the morning quiet.

Will let out a small, sleepy chuckle. “I wasn’t planning on going anywhere.”

A satisfied hum rumbled in Hannibal’s chest as he pressed a lingering kiss to Will’s temple. The morning stretched out around them, slow and golden, filled only with the sound of their breathing, the rustle of sheets, the warmth of shared touch. And neither of them moved.

The rain had left the world outside damp and quiet, the trees still dripping, the streets washed clean, but inside, everything was slow, unhurried, comfortably lived-in.

Hannibal stood at the counter, sleeves rolled up, methodically plating their breakfast. Will sat at the kitchen table, still slightly drowsy, his curls an unruly mess from sleep, his fingers wrapped around a steaming mug of coffee. He watched as Hannibal moved with effortless precision.

“You look good,” Will murmured, taking a sip of his coffee.

Hannibal turned, a faint smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “Do I?”

“Mm hm,” Will hummed as Hannibal placed a plate in front of him—perfectly scrambled eggs, dark rye toast, and fresh fruit, arranged with the kind of care only Hannibal would consider necessary for a casual weekday breakfast.

“Too good” Will teased, picking up his fork.

Hannibal took his seat across from him, his expression entirely unfazed. “Too good to be oit of your sight, you mean.”

Will rolled his eyes, but there was warmth in his gaze as he reached for his toast. “Too good for those preying nurse eyes.”

Hannibal took a sip of his coffee, watching him with quiet amusement. “You’re not helping your case, I like it when you’re jealous.”

Will didn’t answer, only shook his head with a small, knowing smile as he focused on his food. The easy silence stretched between them, broken only by the occasional clink of silverware.

At some point, Hannibal reached across the table, fingers brushing against Will’s wrist before settling there, warm and familiar. Will didn’t pull away—just continued eating, his free hand idly playing with Hannibal’s fingers, tracing over the lines of his knuckles.

When they finished, Will leaned back with a satisfied sigh, stretching his legs under the table. “We should leave soon.”

Hannibal hummed in acknowledgment, but made no move to get up. Instead, he reached for Will’s coffee mug, bringing it to his lips for a sip before setting it back down with deliberate casualness.

Will huffed. “You have your own.”

“And yet, yours tastes better,” Hannibal replied smoothly, standing at last and moving to gather their plates.

Will shook his head, but there was no bite to it. He pushed his chair back and stood, stretching as he wandered toward the coat rack by the door. Hannibal joined him a moment later, adjusting his cufflinks with practiced ease.

Will shrugged into his coat, then turned, wordlessly holding Hannibal’s out for him. Hannibal stepped closer, allowing Will to help him into it.

As Hannibal adjusted the lapels, Will reached up, smoothing a hand over his collar before leaning in, pressing a brief, lingering kiss to the corner of his mouth.

“Let’s go,” Will murmured against his lips.

Hannibal moved through the corridors of the hospital, nodding politely to nurses and colleagues.

In the brief pause between surgeries, in the solitude of his office, he reached for his phone.

It rang twice before Will picked up, his voice thick with distraction. “Hey.”

Hannibal exhaled, the tension he hadn’t realized he was holding easing just at the sound of him. “Can you talk?”

A rustling sound—paper shifting, maybe the scrape of a chair—then Will’s voice, clearer this time. “Yeah,” A pause. “What’s up?”

Hannibal leaned back in his chair, allowing his eyes to close briefly. “Nothing’s up. How are you?”

Will huffed a soft laugh. “I’m okay.”

For a moment, neither of them spoke. There was no need to. The quiet between them was easy, filled with the distant sounds of their respective spaces—pages turning on Will’s end, the muffled announcement of a nurse outside Hannibal’s office.

Then, Will spoke again, voice softer. “How’s your day?”

“Routine,” Hannibal said.

“So lots of flirting with nurses, then.”

Hannibal let his lips curve in the barest hint of a smile. “Not on my end.”

“Sure.” Another pause. Then Will sighed, shifting, the fabric of his shirt rustling through the receiver. “Well, I miss you.”

“I miss you, too.”

Will was silent for a moment, but Hannibal could hear the faintest breath of amusement, the warmth in it. “Okay, so retire and live as my shadow.”

“How much is the salary?”

“No salary, but lots of benefits.”

Hannibal glanced at the clock. His break was nearly over, but he had no desire to hang up just yet. “I’ll consider your offer.”

Will groaned, but it wasn’t truly exasperated. “Fine, stay there and flirt with nurses.”

Hannibal chuckled, low and quiet. “As if there’s no flirting in your little FBI Academy.”

“Not on my end.” Will teased.

Something warm unfurled in Hannibal’s chest. “You went to work with one of my t-shirts, didn’t you?”

“Yeah, the grey one.”

Hannibal hummed in approval. He could picture it easily—the fabric loose on Will’s frame, familiar, worn. “It suits you.”

“It smells like you.”

The admission came quietly, almost absentmindedly, as though Will hadn’t meant to say it out loud. Hannibal didn’t comment on it, but his fingers curled slightly against the desk, his gaze flickering toward the door when he heard footsteps approaching.

“I should go,” he murmured.

“Yeah.” Will’s voice was quieter now, reluctant.

“I’ll see you later.”

“Yeah,” Will repeated, softer this time.

Hannibal hesitated for half a second before adding, “I love you so much.”

Will exhaled a laugh, something fond threading through it. “I know. Love you too.”

And with that, the line went dead. Hannibal set his phone down, allowing himself a small, satisfied smile before standing and stepping back into the sterile, fluorescent-lit world of the hospital.

Is there any sweet/memorable moments Amara or Mia had when they were young kids? after all of these headcanons we need to hear a little of sweetness 😭

Aww of course! We will be hearing some during the fic, but here’s a bit for you now:

- Will gave Mia a piano and they would play together in the evenings when she was a toddler. She’d sit on his lap and watch as his fingers moved across the keys, trying to follow with her little hands. The piano’s still there, dusting away but she plays every time she feels sad.

- Hannibal used to create elaborate plays for Amara during bath time, with all kinds of characters and plots, teaching her about mythology in a fun way. She still remembers the scent of chamomile from her shampoo, and how she’d fall asleep between foam and bubbles.

When Mia enters highschool, what are the subjects she likes to study the most and why?

Same question for Amara, and if you want to share, also for Savannah!

-🐛

Mia loves literature, she has a teacher she really likes, he notices her penchant for the analytic. She’s good at understanding the depth of fiction or poetry. Amara loves any excuse to poke things, so she loves biology, she’s extremely competitive so she also enjoys sports, but she’s naturally good at history (great memorization skills) and philosophy (of course). Savannah likes English, she loves writing, and she’s a great artist, too!

Rotten Meat is officially on AO3.
