If I mentioned it it was just to make the explanation easier since those terms are very well known, but I dislike it in terms of what Freud was actually argued, which is that between ages 3-6, children develop unconscious sexual desires for the opposite-sex parent and rivalry/hostility toward the same-sex parent. I think it’s highly debatable, lacks empirical evidence and it is just a theoretical model, not really a fact. And if you ask me on a bar as we share some drinks, I’d tell you I think Freud had a thing for his mom and wanted to justify it by saying it’s a natural stage of development hahaha.
All jokes aside, I believe this is not at all a natural thing or a developmental stage, but a conditioned behavior reinforced by the parent the child seems to have a strange, “romantic” jealousy or attachment towards. Which is why I used that for Will because in my theory he would condition a daughter and perhaps a son if it didn’t look too much like him, to have this complex.
