Context: Teenaged Hannigram in a private school somewhere, and Will has skipped class after feigning stomach pains, a healing injury from last week where he beat up a classmate for misconduct. This is his first day back after suspension after that, and he has decided to idle away in the infirmary, lying on an empty bed. Hannibal Lecter joins him then, someone Will has always only glanced at from afar; curious but not willing to become friendly with a guy that smug and suspicious.
Hannibal acting all sad after Matthew’s attempted murder of him, being all, “Oh, I’m so heartbroken that my dearest friend Will Graham tried to kill me… I need to recuperate by composing some music, cook some food… please give me some privacy during this trying time…” When in reality he’s too busy planning his next moves because what do you MEAN Will Graham tried to have me murdered (Excited)!!! Hannibal finding out that Will is vicious enough to have him assassinated from the bowels of the mental asylum Hannibal TRAPPED him in, ohhhhhh, I know there were confetti popping in his head for a week straight.
@t3acupz technically they are cuddling and they do fall asleep right after this; this is an AU with orphans Will and Hannibal (around 14-15 years old) childhood best friends one could say, getting up to hijinks at their orphanage and being, well, them. Someone should separate them already.

The thing I least I expected to get out of my Hannibal re-watches was to have my English accent become slightly American-ised, this is especially funny considering neither of the lead actors is actually American and nor am I, the viewer.
My headcanon is that Will doesn’t drink coffee. Of course, he drinks it at Hannibal’s, but I like to think it buzzes him up so badly and excentuates all his hypersensitivities it feels like he’s on acid. His brain already works unhealthily fast, imagine boosting that up? He’s smelling colours and seeing sounds.
You know what; there is something respectable about Hannibal—he fucks around, fully accepting the consequences. That moment when Will shows up to his house after being acquitted and Hannibal jokes about his aftershave while Will holds him at gunpoint: When Will, sufficiently pissed off, cocks it at him and Hannibal just tilts his face away, eyes closed? Maybe he thought it was too big a gamble to tackle Will, maybe he thought Will wouldn’t shoot, maybe he was gonna fight back—but his fucking balls, man. He doesn’t give a shit. His conversations with freaking Cordell, “How would you cook my tongue, quick, we need to discuss your aptitude for cooking.” He nearly kills everybody in Mizumono in petty revenge, he tries to eat Will’s brain knowing he might regret it badly. In wrath of the lamb he goes to his safe house and the first thing he does is pour himself some wine as if Dolarhyde wasn’t just lurking in the bushes behind him. Fuck around and find out? No! He’s just a troll and consciously the pinnacle of adversity to himself and he never blames anybody inappropriately.
Really in love with this idea of Hannibal and Will being exceptional in the sense that they’re each lonely people and yet they both try to connect with someone; trying to be seen and heard by Bedelia and Alana respectively (and I am NOT talking about romantic/sexual love here), so they have this yearning to reach out and have someone understand– and there’s a limit to that, where Bedelia cannot tolerate the specific kind of devilry Hannibal executes and Alana cannot look at Will objectively and in some cases, smudges both his and her own agency. It’s just a sort of– it’s sort of pathetic, and yet they’re both identical in their loneliness and privacy. I really like this aspect of their persons, that you can be adults and have trouble forming and maintaining relationships; not the angst of it, but the complexity of having a personality like that and how it makes their attachment to each other just that much more precious. Will and Hannibal can despise each other but there will always remain the love and intimacy of the fact that they are dear to each other.
Not to turn this into the ‘male loneliness epidemic’ sort of thing, this has nothing to do with patriarchy and everything to do with Will and Hannibal’s minds working at a frequency that is not easily matched by anybody, regardless of gender.
It’s still so funny how Hannibal, a control-freak germaphobe, was hyperfixated on Franklyn’s used napkins on his side table. Meanwhile he shamelessly has his fingers down every mucous and saliva filled orifice in Will Graham’s face 😭

I’m a big fan of Hannigram in airports or hospital waiting rooms finding a difficult puzzle of some kind (sudoku or crosswords or even maths) and then conversing seriously in their own little bubble while figuring out the answers. Imagine how much stimulation their brains need and how fast they think—they participate in a neighbourhood “treasure hunt” and maybe Hannibal needs to be very curious about the “treasure” to take it seriously, but they always win.
Boston panel was fun nearer to the middle but overall was just unprofessional. The interviewer’s (I feel bad criticising a fellow fan and I can understand nerves) cluttered questions were awkward and confusing, it felt like she came into this with a slam poetry mindset and not interviewing two of the most serious, prolific actors alive. The fan questions were bad (what characters of your other films would meet Will/Hannibal) like, not the time and place. They are not fans, they’re actors, and I promise you they are not thinking about the HEU. You get 30 seconds to get an answer tops and you bombard them with these qs… The only thing I liked was that they were joking around but you could see them struggling with some of the questions (which, btw, they’d already answered in the SAME interview). It’s nice to have a fannibal be the interviewer but at points the GUESTS had to take control of the room and compare that with paley fest and nerdist interview 2020, hosts of both were also fannibals and did a phenomenal job.
Do you think he was ever in love with Bedelia like he was in love with Will? I ask this because Bedelia says they were both the "brides of Hannibal". But Hannibal never courted her like he did with Will, Bedelia came into Hannibal's life much before Will but he never pursued her like he did with Will. Mads said he wanted a future with Will unlike with other people he hooked up with Alana, Bedelia or Anthony. He took her to Italy as a consolation prize when Will betrayed him. Even in Italy H was pining about Will all the time and telling Bedelia how much he loves Will. I know he slept with Bedelia but he probably slept with Anthony too and he slept with Alana, Hannibal is a hedonistic guy who sleeps around. For him sleeping with someone doesn't mean he is in love with them. But when Will confronts Bedelia, she pretends as if Hannibal held them in the same regard which is obviously not true. Hannibal would choose Will over her in a heart beat and even she knows it but yet she acts as if Hannibal sees them both equally. I don't understand why? 😭 Why do you think?why make herself seem like a competition when she is not?
I keep seeing posts from people interpreting Hugh’s words as “Will has a hard time accepting his feelings for Hannibal”. This story isn’t about any of that.
I’ll say, this talk about romantic/sexual love; a lot of the people I’ve spoken to here want to box in Will’s love for Hannibal as either black or white. It’s either platonic or romantic. Plus, the general consensus seems to be that Hannibal “fell in love with Will at first sight and has been courting him in his ‘fucked up’ way”.
I think Will has a fascinating way of thinking. Hannibal, who also has a unique way of thinking, plays around with him like a cat with a mouse toy because he’s sadistic. It turns out they’re very in tune and have a deep affinity for each other. They grow to love each other. To me, the most attractive aspect of this love is that it is intimate; it is dangerous, and magnetic. Sex is not even on the table because it is insignificant compared to what they have mentally. Idk why a lot of us, who, despite loving Hannibal and Will for their eccentricities, still want to box them into a typical romcom storyline. Will’s story is not kissing his spawn of the devil prince charming, it has nothing to do with Hannibal directly; his final boss is Will Graham. Will needs to accept himself after having crossed a few lines he has feared crossing all his adult life. It is to find a place of acceptance—and this acceptance is not murder and running off honeymooning with Hannibal being 'murder husbands’. It’s forgiveness for himself. When circumstances struck, he made irrevocable choices consciously. Those choices have changed him. And he needs to be able to look in the mirror and accept his mistakes, which he can’t allow himself to do.
So Hugh’s answer doesn’t surprise me at all. In fact, the “Will is not accepting his feelings for Hannibal” take surprises me the most. This is simply not true. Will acknowledges several times in the show just how much Hannibal means to him.To many of us, love translates to kisses and sex, and that romantic love is the pinnacle of all love, but platonic love can also be kisses and sex, which in my opinion is even more intimate. Kisses and sex is simply ONE form of communication. In Will and Hannibal’s case, love is expressed in the form of long, verbal conversations, vulnerability, and forgiveness. Will forgives Hannibal for who he is, and Hannibal forgives Will for who he is in turn. They can kiss and have sex, but they don’t need to. They already prove their love for each other in other poignant ways. Will and Hannibal grow soft with each other, and they would eat each other’s hearts raw. I think that’s what makes them, them.
Really, do I enjoy the idea of them kissing and having sex? Yes. Do they need to or even want to? No. They can go their whole lives sitting on the patio 6 feet apart, talking about grandiose shit and it’s love (in fact, the greatest love of each other’s lives).

I didn’t want to hijack that post; Will is also relatable to me in that when I hit 20, I struggled with cognitive dissonance and felt as though I was clinging to life like a beaten dog with its teeth locked into raw meat. And I got out of it. I look at Will and I want the same peace of mind for him. I want that catharsis. His journey is so meaningful to so many of us by virtue of, and borrowing the beautiful wording from last reblog, him transitioning. Most of us who are uncomfortable with change still trudge forward with curiosity. He is for us.
Really crazy how the person who compliments Hannibal is not only a genius but also looks like he stepped out of a classical painting with his curly hair, proportions, and bone structure. Will’s appearance has to be a bonus but it’s so much like Will is everything that tempts and allures Hannibal that it drives me crazy. He’s like the world’s greatest catnip.

Yeah I’m pretty sure Hannibal wasn’t hiding anything incriminating in his office especially after that whole Miriam Lass fiasco, but I imagine post-salmon shirt dynamic where Will finds state secrets in Hannibal’s office while doing his wandering, and even then Hannibal is just smiling with that lovesick smitten, pathetic dogman face, drinking wine while Will dials the Interpol or something for his revenge.

I truly, I truly truly truly love this dialogue so much. While it is literal—Will visiting Lithuania and walking(stumbling) through the Lecters’ estate: his childhood home, walking by his sister’s grave, seeing his snails, meeting his abandoned family, Chiyo—it’s also, Hannibal’s saying that he feels this way. He feels understood by Will in such an intimate way that it feels as though Will is walking down the hallways in his mind. Like Will is looking at his thoughts, his buried past—before Hannibal became a man—when Hannibal was a lump of flesh, raw and observing and waiting, moulding himself into the shape of a person to blend in. That Will scratches something in Hannibal’s brain so tangibly that Will is sensation and sound and present inside his skull.
Tugging on my clown cap: The fact that Will lives in “Wolf Trap” could imply that Will’s the captured wolf, or that he’s fated to capture wolves aka Hannibal.
