My favourite Hannibal moments are where he laughs; when Will confronts him in his kitchen with a gun and Hannibal comments on the smell of his aftershave, and when he has detective Pazzi tied up and about to drop and tells him how he called Mason’s number, far from here, just for fun. Hannibal must find most things funny and so when he outwardly, blatantly and jovially laughs at something, I find that it’s like a peek inside his secretive mind. I love it so much that Hannibal isn’t compulsive like Hobbs or suffering within like Dolarhyde. Rather he’s an artist, an observer and a creator. He’s just high on life, full of laughter and petulance.
