Something so honest about Hannibal “training” Chiyo. She says he would blindfold her and throw in different things into the fire for her to identify through scent. On the one hand, Hannibal probably needed more stimulation in his relationships and may have wanted Chiyo to be on par with his proclivities. On the other hand, it’s mean. Chiyo has to play his games, and his games interest him, mainly. I also wonder if he wanted to make her strong like him, turn her into a hunter, but I can imagine Hannibal only doing so out of a distant fondness or boredom. In the end she did have to become sharp and keen in order to keep up with him, and it seems he does respect her and is fond of her.
