Where did the trope of Will being borderline alcoholic come from in fics?? He admits to drinking 2 inches of whiskey once, we see him drinking with Margot, and then once more in the last ep of S3 (let’s talk about this in a second) that’s it?? If anything, isn’t Hannibal the drunk? This man won’t go a DAY without drinking. In fact the moment he got out of prison the first thing he does is open a wine bottle and offer some to Will. I think it’s because Will is vulnerable due to a lack of control of his circumstances (caused by Hannibal btw) it appears as though he doesn’t have control of himself—and Hannibal, despite drinking so often, because he seems in control of everything, he is perceived as naturally having control of himself. I find it unfair! It’s like, oh Will is outwardly mentally ill so it makes sense that he’s susceptible to addiction and substance dependencies. Meanwhile Hannibal is super duper he’s just European.
