I love how Hannibal is understood through his acts of violence. Him making Gideon auto cannibalise is Hannibal satisfying his ego. Attempting to murder Jack is an indifferent fullstop at the end of a sentence; it’s simply meant to be. Cutting off Abigail’s ear and forcing her to fake her own death is an act of authority and over encompassing kindness. Medically abusing Will is him being a circus master, playing with his animals and tricks and the pain is not pain; in fact it’s all quite fun and colourful. Eating Beverly in a cracker made to resemble Will’s mental asylum mask is a show of dominance. Eating the silo tank killer is child-like curiosity and accomplishment. Stabbing Will in Mizumono is heartbreak and a gift; this is intimate and special; he’s never done anything like this and never met anyone like him, in fact, this is the first time he is murderously violent towards Will because he’s never wanted to before this; hasn’t wanted to draw blood. Shoving pazzi off the balcony to hang from his own intestines is amusing. Trying to eat Will’s brain is serious and important. Eating Frederick’s lip is establishing himself as THE horror in the room, don’t you ever forget that :>
