I really like that although Will reaches for Molly for comfort as he deals with his reunion with Hannibal and Dolarhyde’s murders, it cannot triumph the unsavoury emotions Hannibal inspires within Will. It says something about Will, and Will and Hannibal: The discomfort and fascination he feels near Hannibal has a greater pull on him than the safety that Molly, his family (the thing he has carved all along), can provide. This is the crux of the matter: Will can’t let go of Hannibal for his own good. In fact, he points his rage at Ingram, at Dolarhyde, but not at Hannibal for doing the same thing. Hannibal’s actions are not healed from nor forgotten yet they’re accepted. Understood. Forgiven. Even though they shouldn’t. Even though he should stay away. Even though Hannibal is horrible to him. But he’s not horrible FOR him, and that’s insidious. Molly isn’t enough to pull him away from that.
