The Nine Houses being what they are, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Cohort had their recruits’ genetic profiles on file just as a matter of record.
So wouldn’t it be fun if Gideon had escaped the Ninth, and two weeks later Harrow gets a missive from the Cohort saying that the new recruit has tripped a red flag in the genetic database. She has no definite matches for any relatives going back at least 300 years. Would the Reverend Mother or her appointed representative be so kind as to please confirm that Gideon Nav is a real person who is known to the Ninth House?

No but I don’t think you understand how obsessed I am with this question. Like you have to imagine that the NUNS of the ninth house did not amass a library of skin mags, so gideon HAD to have been requisitioning them. Which means. That harrow was sitting there APPROVING them for transport from offworld. They were designed for each other
my other favorite thing about this is that harrow has READ it. she says “some of your comics are very nasty” which implies that a) she’s read them b) she likes at least some of them, maybe even the nasty ones. harrow repeatedly approved these things for transport and presumably read each one as they came. the whole time pretending “i hate this, i hate griddle, i’m reading this out of hatred” and obviously lying horribly to herself but also she is incredibly repressed. soulmates, the two of them. i’m obsessed with everything about gideon’s titty mags
