“It’s finished, it’s done. You can’t take loved away.”
- Tamsyn Muir, Nona the Ninth
💝 Thank you for 1k. Special thanks to my lovely friend @sessjudoodles for helping sketch the line work for the Albertaceretops :)
After seeing it on my dashboard several times, and constantly thinking ‘oh that’s lovely’ I finally see this again and recognize it as Nona art. Ironically (or perhaps appropriately) I had purged its details from my mind until I came back to it again, with eyes wide open.
underrated part of the unwanted guest is dulcinea knowing full well that palamedes and camilla are a package deal. like, she’s in a weird emotional situationship with palamedes, and she is aware that means that she is Also, By Extension, in a weird emotional situationship with camilla. and she’s quite happy about it
finally finished!! i’ve never made something like this before and it took a very long time but it was great getting a chance to test my art skills. (i this say full well knowing i just wanted to draw my favorite guys a million times). hope you enjoy :)
Since I crucified her and then impaled her heart in the last drawings she gets to hug Harrow as a little treat
Also I needed it coz I was this close to cry again while thinking about the second book. And I didn’t want to explain to my little brother why his sister was weeping at midnight.🤡🤡
I feel like I’m missing the tumblr content about how tlt isn’t just an explicitly queer story but also an intrinsically trans story. It’s probably being discussed in other circles and I’m not seeing it, but like… Gideon the First’s body with Phyrra’s soul, and Phyrra is she/her and never spoken of in Nona as anything but a woman. The sharing of Cam’s body with Pal and the immediate, unquestioned switch of pronouns depending on who is fronting. Paul, they/them, pronouns not based on their body’s genitalia. Like the queerness, it’s never “HEY THIS IS OUR TRANS CHARACTER, BEHOLD THE TRANS!” anymore than it’s like “AND THEY ARE LESBIANS!!!!” They just go about being trans and queer in a normalized way. Everyone is queer and trans and horny and nobody’s fucking.
I deeply despise the idea that Harrowhark would give up her Ninth faith–prayer, veiling, face paint–if she went to Space Therapy.
Tamsyn Muir has written such a deeply, sincerely religious character and it seems so many readers simply can’t comprehend that side of Harrowhark.
i think some readers see john and harrow interact in HTN and think, “oh, she’s disillusioned with him and losing her religion,” but that isn’t fully it. she’s questioning whether john himself is god, not losing her faith in the existence of god itself.

when we last see her in NTN, she’s going on a journey to find god, not losing her relationship to her faith!
