keep thinking about how someone needs to analyze the locked tomb through the pity = love gaze because it is so clearly an extremely formative perspective on the way tamsyn muir writes and i know this because i have read her fic!! and it was such a big thing!! the concept of love being the ability to see someone else being vulnerable and feel pity/love instead of disgust or discomfort! allowing someone else to see the soft ugly parts of you that no one else sees!! knowing they won’t fucking murder you for it! i could probably pull actual quotes but i feel like the scene where ianthe finds harrow while shes naked and having a breakdown and just. can’t stand it. she thinks she loves harrow but she doesn’t! she’s viscerally uncomfortable with harrows vulnerability!!
