See, you start reading The Locked Tomb because everyone is like wow, lesbian necromancers in space, fun but watch out it’s a little sad! And then Tasmyn Muir says my entire magic system is based on the fact that you cannot know someone without being changed by their existence. You cannot lose someone, grieve for someone without them becoming a part of you forever. Grief is transformative because love is transformative. It’s also a consumption, because love is a consumption - souls merge when they spend enough time near each other. You will never be the person you were before you met them.

Thinking about how Cytherea was creeping on Gideon the whole time. From the moment they met, she took a shining to the naive 18-year-old herbo from a shut in cult on a dusty ice rock a million zillion miles from Dominicus.
From the word go, when she swooned and got caught by the golden eyed child… She instantly got her hooks into Gideon.
I’m going to point out something I’ve just realized, there was no need for her to retrieve the key from that draining field in the facility. Not only did she already have the solution 10,000 years ago, but she could have retrieved it herself.
She didn’t have to team up with Gideon and Harrow.
She wanted to.
And I can’t help but speculate as to why. Did she enjoy seeing Gideon puke blood and collapse? Did she get some sort of power trip from seeing someone else brought low?
I think about the sweet words she whispered to Gideon. Poor baby, poor dear. And so on. The affection she was always so willing to give Gideon while watching the girl go through the worst experience of her life thus far.
Demented.
I think she had Gideon tortured for her own enjoyment there. Her twisted behavior around the person she admits is a baby is so creepy in hindsight.
She still kinda hot tho. I’d let her kill me is all I’m saying.

I saw very cool cowgirls griddlehark desing and decide to make my own but unfortunately i have history clothing autism (I thought for a disgustingly long time about drawing Gideon pants or a skirt because there is evidence of horse riding in both)

It was very fun to let out my inner history nerd and get lost in researching historical clothing as inspiration; I especially referenced napoleonic military uniforms, and 1860s Victorian dresses (of course combined with a lot of other finery and flourishes) and I’m quite happy with the result :)
day 3,650,365 of waiting for Alecto the Ninth: the frontlines are hell, we no longer hear from our commanders back at base camp. my wife still hasn’t sent me a photo of her to inspire me to keep fighting in the trenches. the general keeps saying we’ll be home by christmas but it’s been two years since i’ve seen my three beautiful daughters.
