God, Gideon Nav is a butch woman in a sci-fi/fantasy story who’s allowed to just be butch! She wasn’t the only girl raised with 8 brothers, she wasn’t “made that way” in response to some horrible trauma, she’s not disguising herself as a man to join some army or exclusive group while yearning for the day she can revert to feminine presentation, she’s just a woman who is masculine presenting. And yes, many of her interests and goals are based on physical strength, but like…the book doesn’t make it weird, yaknow? And all of this is made more important by her specifically being a mixed race butch woman of color! We really need to appreciate that more

palamedes and camilla are the most tightly knit mutuals you have ever seen. they do absolute knockout text posts where pal provides the setup and cam knocks it out of the park with a four-word punchline. otherwise pal is a science blogger and cam posts pictures of swords.
dulcie is pal and cam’s old livejournal friend who deleted a couple years back. now she’s on tumblr… but there’s something off about her. protesilaus_ebooks is a blog that posts nothing but reblogs every single one of her posts seconds after she makes it.

harrow is an aesthetic blogger and the sole remaining moderator of the superpopular goth aesthetic Ninth House blog. the other three moderators all deleted after some big drama, but she keeps posting under their pseudonyms to make it seem like the blog is still going as usual. her mutual gideon, who just wants to post shonen anime gifsets and porn (remember porn guys) is unwillingly drawn into the Ninth House blog drama and goes to dashcon to help harrow continue the charade despite their long history of directing anon hate at each other
the lyctors + john are all mods on an extremely big blog and they operate under pseudonyms. they are the ones who organized dashcon and also are treating it as an application for possible new mods (lyctors). they also have messy discourse in the same vein as the recent drama with the mods from @/yourfaveisunfuckable
Not to condone genocide, imperialism, and abuse on main but I truly am obsessed with John Gaius. I can never thank Ms Muir enough for this fascinating and strange little god man. I would love to study him. I know everyone else is in this fandom because of the lesbians but the best experience I’ve had reading these books is seeing the figure of god teased out and alluded to throughout gtn and learning in htn that he is Just Some Guy with the most Just Some Guy name of all time. And then later in htn learning that he is also, fundamentally, horny. The necrolord prime, emperor of the nine houses is a terrifying megalomaniacal immortal hell bent on interplanetary domination who is also, and I cannot stress this enough, a fucking nerd. John Gaius is like if Jonah Magnus succeeded at ending the world but still retained all of his mundane human shitty boss qualities. John Gaius is like if the creepiest of your high school teachers ascended to godhood but still wanted to overshare about his marriage problems to his students every now and then. John Gaius has been god for 10,000 slutty slutty years and he misused every single one. John Gaius makes meme references that were probably already incredibly out of date when he was alive, and yet he’s STILL MAKING THEM 10,000 years later. John Gaius is the universe’s shittiest absent father. John Gaius sees one of his few surviving old friends repeatedly attempt to murder the child under his care and goes “hm. Concerning” before doing Nothing about it. I am OBSESSED with this deeply human and messy all-powerful malevolent god, nobody is doing it like him
