My favorite hobby is picking a woman from tlt and going spelunking in her brain like wow this is beautiful. The cinnamon topography. you are so unwell tho. Btw I would die for you
John Gaius is so MUNDANELY UNSPEAKABLY evil. He has the Just Some Guy energy of a tenured professor, and he wears a laurel wreath made out of BABY FINGERS. Hi, yes, welcome, have tea and a bikkie while I show you how to kill a planet and every living thing on it. He is become death, destroyer of worlds, and he has a yogurt stain on his shirt.
thinking about gideon “you only ever had to ask me” nav vs ianthe “i could protect you if you’d only ask me to” tridentarius vs abigail “i came because you asked” pent
thinking about it it’s very funny that Gideon and Harrow (literally the only 2 children growing up in the Ninth) are both lesbians. their generation is 100% lesbians. do they know that not everyone is a lesbian
I think it’s very funny that Camilla Hect knows more about necromancy than any other cavalier at Caanan House. I choose to believe this is because Palamedes has been using her to rubber-duck debug all his papers since age eleven, and she’s just absorbed a full PhD’s worth of necromantic theory this way.
The dramatis personae for ntn is out and I have no clue what is happening www.tor.com/2022/03/15/revealing-the-dramatis-personae-from-nona-the-ninth-by-tamsyn-muir/
and on a sorta related note, sooo i guess i should announce that i uh. unfortunately cannot speculate about nona the ninth anymore. i actually read ntn in february and i am being very conscientious about not spoiling anything. i still love to read everyone’s theories tho lmao
@neornithes i LOVED ntn!!!! a total ride start to finish, tamsyn muir did not disappoint!! i was screaming out loud for like half the book!!!
Now seems like a good time to admit I’ve also read Nona. Twice now!
I won’t be spoiling anything, and will continue to post about the same old theories I’ve been sharing for the last 2 years. So please don’t ask for spoilers! All I’ll say is that it’s amazing. You’re all in for a wild ride in September!
Locked Tomb AU where Cytherea rolls up to Canaan House fully ready to engage in a whole bunch of murder up to and ideally including deicide only to take one look at Gideon’s face, do the math of “A. L.’s eyes + Commander Wake’s face + Ninth House teenager = John is a lying liar who lies”, and decide to flip the plan from “If they all die that’ll show him!” to “If they all live that’ll show him!”
John sends somebody to pick up the survivors or whatever the original plan was and well over half the cast is wandering around with the wrong eyeballs. Opinions range from “genuinely thought this was how the original lyctors did it” (the Fourth) to “knows full well that somebody tampered with the notes to make it look like there was always an extra step that you have to figure out on your own, but this is better than what they originally did so whatever” (the Sixth) to “honestly disappointed they were stopped from going with the murder option” (Ianthe)
No one in the First is happy about this but too late now!
“They should not want to fuck Ianthe” my sister in Christ you made her 6ft tall gave her lyctorhood glowup and gilded skeleton arm making her say “gall on gall” and and lets not forget that scene of her losing her armginity (arm virginity) all sweaty and bloody…
John Gaius is truly one of the most characters ever. He’s god. He powers the sun except he lied about that. He’s a millennial. He made his friends kill their best friends. He resurrected an entire solar system but didn’t cure his best friend’s lung cancer. He referenced none pizza with left beef. He locked his best friend in a tomb for 10,000 years and started a cult to keep her locked up. He’s even bi
hang on a sec. does everyone alive think that necromancers were always a thing. because i’m rereading gtn and harrow says the facility is from pre-resurrection but then she says that theorems and tests were left down there “for any necromancer talented enough to understand what they were doing”
so either she thinks necromancers were always a thing and is referring to pre-resurrection humans as necromancers, or she thinks that pre-resurrection humans had knowledge of necromancy and somehow did a chicken before the egg sort of thing where they designed the tests before there was actual necromancy
thinking about harrow and palamedes in chapter 33 of htn……how his heart audibly breaks when he learns of harrow’s lyctorhood…….how he’s so overjoyed when he sees [redacted] and realizes harrow faked and girlbossed her way through the lyctorhood process……..he cares for her so much in a way no one else (except ortus maybe?) ever really has. he’s her brother in every way except blood. literally punching a wall rn
the beginning of harrow the ninth was the most baffling start to a book and seriously made me question my own memory lmfao i wish i could reread it for the first time again
Going from Gideon & Harrow, who have never heard or said ‘I love you’ in their entire lives, to Nona saying it three times as easy as breathing in the first pages? I …. I need a minute.
