My friend was reading Gideon the Ninth and he asked me just how many people were involved in this love “triangle” overall. And you know what. That’s a very good question.
Edit: Changed the color of “pants-wetting terror” so it is no longer all but indistinguishable from “sexual relationship”
NEW AND IMPROVED NONA EDITION!
Subtitled: In my defense I how the fuck could I have seen Pyrrha and the Sixth coming when I picked where to place them in their separate networks
I truly believe that this the healthiest interaction harrowhark has had in her entier life
ALT
This is the first time anyone, especially an adult harrow respected, has implied that opening the tomb was a normal, understandle thing to want to do. This is one of the central sin of harrow’s life, it is her greatest betrayel, and yet abigail is happy for her without prying about the personal private pain.
It’s not absolution, it’s telling harrow that what she did wasn’t even a sin.
some notes: ianthe is wet/creepy supreme. harrow is also wet and creepy BUT she’s wet in a way that makes her less creepy, unlike ianthe. gideon is on there twice because she isn’t that wet or creepy but she does see herself as the most dry and normal person ever. which she is not.
the reason i love ianthe so much is because of how unrepentantly awful and pathetic she is.
she tries to evil gloat like once but her tummy hurts too much to do it propery. she cries herself to sleep every night. she overshares about how corona nearly killed her in the womb. she makes a joke nobody laughs at. in harrow she tries to affect dispassion but instead she just comes across as incredibly bizarre in all her interactions.
she’s such a fucking mess. character of all time.
loving the tags this is getting. target audience reached.
some of my favorite parts of htn are whenever harrow starts going on internal monologues about using necromancy and taz uses explicit sexual language to describe it. the two jumping out at me off the top of my head are harrow pouring “thalergy in with embarrassing torrents, a hot, shameless gush of it,” and like the whole arm scene but i especially love “you did not need to know so intimately the lover’s knot of carpal bones—the long tooth of her lunate, the jutting promontory of her trapezium—nor did you need to know the arch of the distal phalange, the shaft, the base.”
