Each time Harrow hesitates or goes out of her way to hurt Gideon nav and she is like: Harrow refuses to be beholden to me, she hates me

Proper reading order for The Locked Tomb series:

1. Gideon the Ninth.
2. Reread Gideon the Ninth now that you know that redacted is redacted.
3. Harrow the Ninth
4. Reread Harrow the Ninth because you’re not entirely sure what the hell just happened. (Repeat if necessary.)
5. Reread Gideon the Ninth now that you know that redacted and redacted are redacted’s redacted.
6. Reread Harrow the Ninth while you wait for Nona the Ninth to come out.

Mine went like:
1. Read Gideon the ninth
2. Read HtN in two days to see if it fills the new hole in my heart.
3. It didn’t so I try to forget the books
4. It passed on it’s own, but now i want to feel it again, start reading other stuff so I can forget them
5. Run out of patience and read tlt again
6. start rereading both of them every few months

Someone they left to die

so this quote when we learn a bit about BOE from john:

“What does BOE stand for?”

“Someone they left to die,” said God wearily. “How sharper than the serpent’s tooth, et cetera … Harrow, if you bother to remember anything from my ramblings, please remember this: once you turn your back on something, you have no more right to act as though you own it.”

So I’m curious about the theories around this one. The full quote is form King Lear and it finishes:

How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is
To have a thankless child!

My personal one is that eden is referring to earth, and leaving it to die means abandoning it to the cataclysm that made john resurrect everyone, based on:
1. A (flimsy) Interpretation of “Eden” as “Paradise”
2. if they named themselves after something it must be important to them, and wake seemed pretty pissed about the extincion

The quote seems to be implying that john founded them.

Has this been said before? Anyone has a different theory? I’m pretty curious.
