Finished Harrow the Ninth, and I have three thoughts:
1. Two whole novels to set up for that dad joke, and it was WORTH IT.
2. Speaking of things being worth it: this book is not an easy read. It is intensely challenging and punched me in the gut multiple times. Not the sort of novel I’d bring to the beach for a little light reading, is what I’m trying to say. But it repays all the effort. It’s damn good.
3. I find it IMMENSELY unfair that I have to WAIT for the next installment.
John has spent a myriad wanting to tell a dad joke, but, right, the blood ward on A.L’s tomb, can’t have a kid.
And then when the last three of his underlings are challenging him, and getting pissed, and he needs to be careful, and it is this whole thing… but in walks Gideon and sets herself up perfectly and he just fucking has to take it.
