foxtea:

Was recently rereading a bit of harrow the ninth and I got my heart shattered into a tiny gazillion pieces

theriverbeyond:

IMO it’s very important that Gideon the Ninth is a corruption arc…. Gideon starts out stuck and indentured and abused, but also more free than she will ever be again. And she loses that!!! She gives it away, piece by piece—on the shuttle, in the labs, in that goddamn pool—her entire self chipped away and replaced until she’s throwing herself on a spike yelling “For the Ninth!”, a place she holds no affection for and that she spent her entire childhood trying to escape. like:

GtN chapter 1

Whenever Gideon had been made to go through those doors as a kid, she’d screamed like she was dying.ALT

vs GtN chapter 36

she was Drearburh. She was Gideon Nav, and Nav was a Niner name. She took the whole putrid, quiet, filth-strewn madness of the place, and she opened her doors to it. Her hands were not shaking anymore.ALT

I am going to walk into the sea!!!!
