Okay i have a question for harrowbod theorists - if nona is in harrow’s body, where is gideon?????
Gideon is:
1) Nona
2) In her own body and unconcious
3) In her own body and Tazmuir pulled the supreme troll move (respectful) of resurrecting Gideon off-screen while we were blinking between books
I have multiple lines of thought for how all the bodies and souls are jumbled but my pet theory for Gideon is that she is in the body in the tomb ❤️
Oooh, is that related to how Gideon used to have nightmares that she was locked inside the Tomb, even before Harrow opened it?
I’m breaking my promise of Not Thinking about theories but I do think there’s a possible explanation that Gideon did get shoved back into her own body at the end of HtN. The last place we see it is in AYU with BOE, and who knows, maybe they actually went to finish what Wake started and open the tomb? Because the one thing that I can’t reconcile from the end of HtN is when Gideon describes seeing Harrow’s “bullshit dead girlfriend”. So does that mean Gideon’s body was taken to the tomb to open it, and when she “dies” in the river at the end of HtN, she gets pulled back? (I don’t hold on to this idea strongly, it is just a Thought haha)
If Nona is Gideon in Harrow’s body with self-amnesia because of Harrow giving herself an anti-Gideon lobotomy I’m gonna lose it laughing that is so funny and unfortunate
my personal headcanon is that i 100% think that ianthe calling gideon “gonad” and “goblin” when they first re-meet in the mithraeum was ianthe not being sure if her ensorcelled tongue was still in effect and not wanting half her face blown off. like, iirc we only ever hear her call g1deon the “saint of duty” and other such epithets. my headcanon is that ianthe literally couldnt say the name “gideon” for like, the whole 9 months of living with him and i think that is very funny.
this line strongly implies that little 10 year old harrow already knew she was a lesbian and uh. how did you know, harrow? who was your gay awakening? who was there who could possibly have helped you figure it out? i know it wasn’t the nuns!
I hope everyone knows when I say that I’m certain Wake cared about Gideon I don’t mean she developed soft motherly feelings and wanted to be family to her. I mean it in the way the hardbitten veteran can’t help getting attached to the plucky sidekick. I mean it in the way that an idealistic crusader finds purpose in her rage at seeing The Enemy’s injustice, and in siding with their enemy’s victim. I mean it in the way of seeing Gideon learning to become a one-woman army with the sword that anchors Wake’s soul and Wake can’t help a little pride creeping in with the thought ‘I guess she takes a little after me’.
LOL it would be so funny if like. Post lobotomy harrow made up a whole romance arc between her and the body as a stand in for her relationship with gideon and like. It all stemmed from that one nervous joke gideon had made to check if it was ok to kiss harrow or not djvkfhfkd can u imagine. My girl spent an entire book and a half agonizing abt unrequited love for nothing
thinking about it it’s very funny that Gideon and Harrow (literally the only 2 children growing up in the Ninth) are both lesbians. their generation is 100% lesbians. do they know that not everyone is a lesbian
cursed gideon the ninth au: instead of going to canaan house everyone gets summons to dashcon 2014. to be clear here: everything with lyctorhood, the trials, the murders, etc is still very much happening. the pool scene happens in the ball pit.

Thinking about how Wake was probably there for the big fight when Gideon and Harrow were kids.
She would have heard Gideon tell her she loved her, and whatever Harrow said that made Gideon so angry. She would have heard Gideon say that she probably loved Gideon a whole lot more than Harrow’s mother loved her. She would have watched Gideon almost kill Harrow over it.
