Lowkey the funniest damn thing about GtN is knowing the aneurysm it would have given both Harrow AND Gideon if they were not entire dumbasses too distracted by nerd shit and the presence of boobs, respectively, to realize the conclusions being drawn about them by literally everyone else at Canaan House.

EVERYONE knows that Ninth cavs are just, you know, glorified pack mules these days. In fact, everyone knows that the official Ninth cavalier primary is exactly that, or was the last anyone heard.
And then Harrow shows up with this lean, smug butch who’s got biceps for days, an ass you could bounce a quarter off of, and absolutely no behavior patterns appropriate for the highest-ranking bodyguard position in the galaxy. And since Gideon’s little nest is deeper in the Ninth quarters, anyone who spied on them would only notice that the cav cot is completely untouched.
So like. Harrowhark, whom everyone knows has been basically running her House for years since her parents uh [checks notes] were consumed by grief after the creche flu. And really can do basically whatever she wants. Shows up trailing a tall, smirking drink of cool water who is blatantly not a fucking cavalier.
And listen, that’s just tacky, okay, Nonagesimus?
Like, there’s a slim but important distinction between sleeping with your cavalier and making someone your cavalier because you’re sleeping with them. Love affairs between cavs and necros are almost to be expected, I would think; it’s a deep, sacred bond, you’re with each other 24/7, maybe you don’t advertise it but it’s respectable. And Abigail and Magnus are different, because they’re married, so it’s classy. But you can’t just take your slab of eye candy and elevate her to an elite and sanctified rank so you can get a couple’s discount from the Emperor! What the fuck!
PLEASE imagine the look on Harrow’s face the first time the twins and Babs made a snide comment to this effect and she realized how Gideon’s presence was being interpreted.

Not sure tbh!! I wanna see spoilers first about whether or not we’re gonna get any Gideon, cuz tbh I like Harrow but I can’t read an entire book about her being miserable with no Gideon in sight 😂
Oh Gideon the Ninth gave me a protagonist I’ve been waiting for in so many ways, and Harrow definitely fits some of those bills, but uhhh hm idk if that’s really the dynamic I want. Also they’re kiddos
